Color Changing Furniture: is Japanese technology ahead of the rest of the world

For now just the flashy furniture would have to-do.
The color-changing furniture is either a mad idea or one which shows that Japanese technology is a few years ahead of the rest of the world (guess that’s up for opinion).

The product is called the Fuwapica (means soft and flashy in Japanese) table & chairs and they are set to be unveiled in San Diego at the SIGGRAPH 2007.
So who would have these in their home?
