This comment was made by Chris on a post that was just a question from someone who loves their Xbox 360 but just had one problem.

What started off as a little question to solve a problem, ended up turning more into a debate again on the Sony PS3 vs the Xbox 360 as always.

We saw one comment from Chris that highlighted the Sony PS3 and Xbox 360 peripherals, in this comment Chris tries to sway opinions (not likely).

Here is the comment by Chris:
Mark, your first comment adressed to Ricky didn’t make much sense at all. No offense, but the failure rate doesn’t necessarily increase with how recently the console launched. To tell you the truth, the Xbox 360 has a much higher chance of breaking down than the Playstation 3, and even Microsoft acknowledges that. Now, I’m not going to get into mindless, non-intellectual talk like “Teh Xb0x 360 pwns!” or “Da SuxB0x 36o suxorz!!1!”, but when you actually take some time to look into the Playstation 3 and the Xbox 360 peripherals, the PS3 is an amazing console.

First off, a comment like “If you only looking for gaming, graphics, great choice of games and online gaming then there is no way anything will beat the Xbox 360.” is completely ludicrous. Let’s compare the Xbox 360 and the Playstation 3 first, then the Elite to be fair.

Graphics:

The Playstation 3 is a powerhouse, and focuses greatly on graphics. It’s highest resolution is 1080p, ready since launch, whereas the Xbox 360 was only capable of 1080i until a recent update. Next, the Playstation 3 has an HDMI output, while you can only get that otherwise by buying an Xbox 360 Elite. The PS3’s HDMI out port is v 1.3, a significantly higher quality than the Elite’s v 1.2, although the .1 difference may seem insignificant at a glance. Right there, the Playstation 3 beat both Xbox 360s.

Cost:

Right now, the premium Playstation 3 costs $499. The premium Xbox 360 costs $399. Let’s make the characteristics even, by comparing the features.

Standard Hard Drive. Playstation 3: 60GB Xbox 360: 20GB
The Playstation 3 has an upgradeable internal hard drive, allowing the user to add any compatible hard drive, such as the 200GB I upgraded to recently. For the Xbox 360, you need a Microsoft-made hard drive that only comes in 20 or 120GB.

Controller:

The Playstation 3 can use up to 7 wireless controllers, while the Xbox 360 can use only 4 wireless controllers. The PS3 has motion-sensitive Sixaxis controllers, yet the Xbox 360 was confined to wired controllers at launch.

Headset:

The Playstation 3 can use any Bluetooth or USB headset. The Xbox 360 uses the provided Microsoft headset, but other headsets are possible if you can try to get them to work hard enough.

Cost:

Playstation 3: $499. Let’s make the two even.

Xbox 360: $399.99
120GB Hard Drive: $179.99
Xbox Live Gold: $49.99 annually
Wireless Adapter: $99.99
High Definition DVD Player: $179.99 with the price drop.

All of this comes to $909.95. You could have gotten all of this in a Playstation 3 for $499, but the extra $410 to an Xbox 360 doesn’t hurt, right?

There’s lots of other aspects to add, as well. Playstation 3 users enjoy their consoles more, and use them more than the average Xbox 360 user. Studies show that the average Playstation 3 session is 83 minutes long, while the average session for the Xbox 360 is only 61 minutes. Like others have said, the 360 failure rate is between 30-50%, the PS3’s is 1-2%, etc.

So, have any opinions been swayed with the truth?

    Why’d this blog come alive again?

    @anonymous’ writing looks vaguely familiar…

    Welcome back “ace”. :^)

    @Charles

    That was actually well said. I agree with that comment wholeheartedly. Ignorant comments - serving no other point than to degrade anothers “investment” - it is offensive. And, it can be a bit of fun…if not on the verge of masochistic. :^)

    @Chris

    Calm down…before you have an aneurysm!

    I just visited the source of your original conversation. Why did you comment to begin with? It wasn’t even a 360 vs. PS3 debate! It was about a 27 inch LCD TV, Pal 60 and the 360 interoperability.

    You start the “debate” rather offensively by saying it was “completely ludicrous” to consider the 360 to have the graphical prowness (and online abilities) of the PS3. Spatn’ things like that is when it’s no longer your “opinion” - it becomes a debatable fact.

    I agree with you about this TC. He is “spoofn’” off a topic, but at least this IS a PS3 vs. 360 debate…whereas - the other was a question to the public looking for a solution.

    Now, you’re even more offensive: Accusing those of us that are pro-360 to being “closed-minded individuals “.

    No, I think your character has really shined through with all your foul language.

    Obviously, there’s no real reason to repeat what I’ve already posted above - but it’s just another sign of the PS3/SONY supporter being oppressed.

  2. Chris says:

    Plkrtn, first off, the Playstation 3 controller’s battery doesn’t need to be replaced. You charge it with the USB chord. I have not heard even one case of a Playstation 3 controller battery failure.

    Secondly, the Playstation 3 controller doesn’t need to sync up with a wire! You press the PS button, then start playing. That’s it. You do not need to connect the USB cable regularly, because the pad does not forget to sync…

    Plus, don’t start about company “scandals”. Guerrilla Games misinformed Sony about the reality of the Killzone 2 E3 2005 trailer, so it’s Guerrilla’s, not Sony’s fault.

    At least we don’t drop $50 mil in a desperate attempt to buy exclusivity to Grand Theft Auto IV.

  3. Chris says:

    Greeter, I understand your opinion, but please don’t act like I started this debate. Do you know what set me off in the original article?

    Matt: “you hd blu-ray you are stupid ricky thats why hd-dvd is selling way better than blue-ray and its not hd-drive its hd-dvd your stupid,and you said a better line up dude get out once in awile and shut up because you do not know what you are talking about.the xbox 360 has the best line up of games an exclusives than any other console.Look the xbox 360 has 40 exclusives coming out for it the ps3 only has 19,the ps3 doesnt even get the new madden 08 because its for xbox 360 only”

    Scoob101: “PS3 SUXX!!!!!”

    Mark: “PS3 is expensive and boring.”

    Stop acting like innocent sheep, you all. It’s not like this argument started off unprovoked. I saw three Xbox 360 fanboys talking smack, and I decided to even the playing field, even though I’m one of the only people here who has a Playstation 3, and isn’t a huge Xbox fan.

  4. anonymous says:

    ahahhahahhahaha greeter u smart mothafucka lol

    js thought id change the name but thanx 4 the welcome.

    this forum is funny tho every1 is so heated! specialy the ones that refer to their system as we! those are the ORIGINAL fanboys! most others should be called ‘bootleg fanboys’ coz they are fake but trying to be real! lol

  5. Greeter says:

    @Chris

    Well Chris, I sympathize with you on that one. But, look at the comments. It looks like a 10 year old wrote them. I normally just ignore them…and if a 10 year old didn’t write them - I “normally” won’t stoop to their level.

  6. Chris says:

    Lol, well, you know these guys better than I do. Are they 10 year olds?

    Anyway, Greeter is one of the most intellectual members of this blog. At least he doesn’t support his favorite console with pre-teen arguments xD

  7. plkrtn says:

    I’m sorry, that comment about Guerilla and the Killzone trailer is not true. I’m talking about footage like the explosion of the wooden building from E3 2005 that they also claimed was actual footage from a PS3, Guerilla did not set the PS3 that was supposedly running this footage up. Sony knew exactly what they were doing.

    You also miss my point about the PS3 pad. First of all to sync it to the machine you had to use the USB cable, whether thats changed, I’m obviously not aware, but you did. Whereas Chris’s claim of the XBOX 360 not have wireless pads available at launch is a downright lie. Also, there are only so many charges it can have before it can no longer handle a long charge and will run out very quickly. So instead of buying a new clip in battery ($20 in the UK for the 360) you have to buy a whole new pad, which in the UK costs nearly $80.

    I talk from the UK perspective here. I will not buy a machine that costs nearly $1000, for the few exclusives that do not attract me. The major games that do attract me are multi-platform. The majority of those are programmed for the 360 then ported to the PS3. I’d rather play them smoothly as they were meant to be played than ported to the PS3. I was very much in the PS3 camp when it was first announced, but failure after failure, plus exclusives like Gears of War turned my head. I’m not a “hater” of the PS3, but for a gaming machine, it lags behind the 360. If I wanted an all singing all dancing multimedia Linux running computer I’d buy a cheap laptop and slap Ubuntu on it.

  8. oldyfan says:

    man, what a fight
    personally i think that sony wont “win” the console war because there really is no console war.

    wii is developed for families in mind.
    xbox 360 is for shooters and action (xbox never won the last one and that did not make a difference)
    ps3 is for people that can afford blu-ray and role playing

    this article is forgetting about one thing games,games,games, is what sells

    remember
    sega cd-next gen for genesis
    dreamcast
    sega gamegear-better than gameboy (in color)
    ngage..serious
    psp- going to retire nintendo

    ps SONY PLEASE STOP BRAGGING ABOUT COMPUTER CHIPS FOR SCIENCE AND MAKE SOME DAMN GAMES
