This comment was made by Chris on a post that was just a question from someone who loves their Xbox 360 but just had one problem.
What started off as a little question to solve a problem, ended up turning more into a debate again on the Sony PS3 vs the Xbox 360 as always.
We saw one comment from Chris that highlighted the Sony PS3 and Xbox 360 peripherals, in this comment Chris tries to sway opinions (not likely).
Here is the comment by Chris:
Mark, your first comment adressed to Ricky didn’t make much sense at all. No offense, but the failure rate doesn’t necessarily increase with how recently the console launched. To tell you the truth, the Xbox 360 has a much higher chance of breaking down than the Playstation 3, and even Microsoft acknowledges that. Now, I’m not going to get into mindless, non-intellectual talk like “Teh Xb0x 360 pwns!” or “Da SuxB0x 36o suxorz!!1!”, but when you actually take some time to look into the Playstation 3 and the Xbox 360 peripherals, the PS3 is an amazing console.
First off, a comment like “If you only looking for gaming, graphics, great choice of games and online gaming then there is no way anything will beat the Xbox 360.” is completely ludicrous. Let’s compare the Xbox 360 and the Playstation 3 first, then the Elite to be fair.
Graphics:
The Playstation 3 is a powerhouse, and focuses greatly on graphics. It’s highest resolution is 1080p, ready since launch, whereas the Xbox 360 was only capable of 1080i until a recent update. Next, the Playstation 3 has an HDMI output, while you can only get that otherwise by buying an Xbox 360 Elite. The PS3’s HDMI out port is v 1.3, a significantly higher quality than the Elite’s v 1.2, although the .1 difference may seem insignificant at a glance. Right there, the Playstation 3 beat both Xbox 360s.
Cost:
Right now, the premium Playstation 3 costs $499. The premium Xbox 360 costs $399. Let’s make the characteristics even, by comparing the features.
Standard Hard Drive. Playstation 3: 60GB Xbox 360: 20GB
The Playstation 3 has an upgradeable internal hard drive, allowing the user to add any compatible hard drive, such as the 200GB I upgraded to recently. For the Xbox 360, you need a Microsoft-made hard drive that only comes in 20 or 120GB.
Controller:
The Playstation 3 can use up to 7 wireless controllers, while the Xbox 360 can use only 4 wireless controllers. The PS3 has motion-sensitive Sixaxis controllers, yet the Xbox 360 was confined to wired controllers at launch.
Headset:
The Playstation 3 can use any Bluetooth or USB headset. The Xbox 360 uses the provided Microsoft headset, but other headsets are possible if you can try to get them to work hard enough.
Cost:
Playstation 3: $499. Let’s make the two even.
Xbox 360: $399.99
120GB Hard Drive: $179.99
Xbox Live Gold: $49.99 annually
Wireless Adapter: $99.99
High Definition DVD Player: $179.99 with the price drop.
All of this comes to $909.95. You could have gotten all of this in a Playstation 3 for $499, but the extra $410 to an Xbox 360 doesn’t hurt, right?
There’s lots of other aspects to add, as well. Playstation 3 users enjoy their consoles more, and use them more than the average Xbox 360 user. Studies show that the average Playstation 3 session is 83 minutes long, while the average session for the Xbox 360 is only 61 minutes. Like others have said, the 360 failure rate is between 30-50%, the PS3’s is 1-2%, etc.
So, have any opinions been swayed with the truth?

This HAS to be one of the single most ludicrous ‘news’ items I’ve ever read. What a lot of absolute nonsense.
The graphics comparrison is particularly pant wetting. I stopped even reading it shortly after that bit.
It’s extremly disappointing that a website would pickup a fanboys comment and post it as fact or news.
This article should be removed.
One thing I do know for a ‘fact’ is that SCEA employ people to go on talkboards and come up with this stuff. It’s primarily done by the same people that are behind Threespeech.com, and that read suspiciously like a (very good) effort by one of them. Not saying it is, but I know such people exist and as I say, if it quacks like a duck then you should probably assume it could be a duck.
I’m not saying he’s wrong, just that ‘chris’ and his ‘if you forget about games, the PS3 wins hands down’ is very disingenuous, and where did he get his ‘facts’ about PS3 owners enjoying their consoles more? I’ve never read such a ‘fact’ anywhere, it certainly hasn’t been reported at any of the big gaming sites since the launch to my knowledge, so I have to assume ‘chris’ has access to some internal Sony market research. All the more suspicious…
Anecdotally, I cetainly don’t enjoy my PS3, it’s been a doorstop for the last two months because nothing’s come out. I *like* the PS3, and I want it to succeed despite the mis-steps it seems to keep making, but it needs games badly, and it needs to be cheaper badly, and it needs a workable online service badly, *that* is the truth. The 360 is far from perfect, but it is at least workable, the PS3 just isn’t.
Great to see the cold hard truth about the two consoles for once. The net is swarming with Xbox owners who never stop moaning about Sony and the PS3, it’s pretty pathetic some of the excuses you read as to why they think the Xbox is ‘better than the PS3′.
All you have to do is lift an Xbox 360 out of it’s er, box and it screams junk. If you can manage to find a place to put the black brick that comes with it somewhere you can turn it on. It maybe possible to hear yourself think above the RB 211 wannabe cooling system but then you’ll get the unbridled fun of scratched media, all that just before it crashes and burns within a few months. How people can defend this hardware disaster is beyond me.
The Whole Xbox 360 business model is total a rip off. What comes as standard with the PS3 you have to buy separately. The Xbox is dead in the water now in Europe anyway, just a cursory look at the Amazon hardware charts and you’ll find it languishing down at about the No.50 mark. With the PS3 riding high in the American sales now I think the XBOX has well out stayed it’s welcome.
I count myself as a 360 survivor, I found a way out.
What a crap article! Too bad its absolutely true, Xbox suxors!
PS3 fanbois are like a scratched CD - playing in an endless loop. Your comments are shallow.
GRAW2 isn’t even going to be out for the PS3 until the end of August (almost 1/2 year after the 360). Oblivion, Rainbow Six Vegas…the list goes on and on. By the time the PS3 gets these games…we’ve gotten bored of them and have moved on.
The PS3 continues to get delays on there games. Everytime - the PS3 fanbois speculate that “they’re gonna optimize for our CELL!”. Then, it’s released, and graphic and game comparisons between the 360 and PS3 are evaluated…the PS3 falls short again. So, all you’re *really* getting is delays. -enjoy.
I hear it from people like you ALL the time…
“I got my PS3 for “title goes here” exlusives…”
Then, a month later…you loose more exclusives…your list gets shorter and shorter.
There’s just so many of you HATERS out there. You’re oppressed. You’re favorite team is losing and will continue to lose…it’s because you’re on the wrong side.
Sony: “The next gen won’t start until we start it…”
Cocky…arrogant - that’s who you’re supporting.
I HAVE been enjoying the “next gen” games an entire YEAR before your PS3 even came out.
A year after the 360 came out - XBL has contracted with Disney, Warner bros…etc. The shear amount of Demos we can download is only on Sony fans “wish” list.
Now, I’m not going to say that the 360 doesn’t have it’s faults.
The hardware DOES break. I had my 360 for a year, and it died. But, I shipped it back to MS and they returned it…all within 9 days. (and they gave me a some free services as well - for my inconvenience).
Now, I have peace of mind for 3 years since MS extended the warrantee.

I think Chris is referring to the research that Neilson recently revealed that the ‘PS2′ was still the most played console in the US last June. It gave percentages of how often the other consoles were played: apparently people on average play on the PS3 ‘longer’ than the 360. But what Chris failed to mention is that people played the 360 ‘more often’. In short, the research means diddly-squat!
YOU ALL NEED TO GET A LIFE.
I stuggle to buy into the argument that the PS3 doesn’t have any games and the 360 has tons. I own both systems, as well as a very dusty wii. All 3 were bought on launch day, (xbox 360 elite, so I’ve only had it since april) and I own 5 games for the PS3 (Resistance, Madden 07, Sonic, Dark Kingdom, and Oblivion) and 4 games for the 360 (Gears of War, Battle for Middle Earth, Lost Planet, and Guitar Hero).
With that in mind there should be many games for the 360 that are currently in stores that I should want, but there really isn’t. Dead Rising is the only game for the 360 that is already out that I am thinking about buying. Now I know the 360 has an awsome lineup for this fall. I’ve had halo 3 on pre-order for 9 months now and with mass effect, bioshock, etc coming out there are some games I’ll want to pick up by the holiday season, but not a whole lot right now.
For the PS3 there are at least two games that are out that I want; Motorstorm, and F1. I’m not really a racing buff but I’ve enjoyed the demo’s of both of those games.
So there are currently seven games for the PS3 that I want or have, and five for the 360. While I know that not everyone feels this way, and I know that the number of titles is higher on the 360 I don’t think that all of them are quality titles worth buying. Same thing for the PS3, there are several games that I would never think about buying.
I like the 360 but I like the PS3 more. I think the XMB is easier/quicker to navigate than the 360’s dashboard. I haven’t played a game on xbox live(I have a gold membership) since I got my 360. I tried a few times to play on gear but I didn’t have a map pack and I refused to pay money to buy it. I’ve played a resistance a few times online and enjoyed it, but I’m sure if I tried now I’d run into a similar problem.
Right now I don’t think there is enough software, or hardware features to seperate the two, and since they are at two different price points with two different value’s its hard to compare the price of the two.
Ah, but of the 5 games which you own for your PS3 - 3 of them are available for the 360, and only Oblivion is improved over the 360 version. You should have bought Madden and Sonic for the 360 instead - then again, perhaps noone should have bought Sonic
Here is a recalculation.
First lets mention that your 60GB is only temporary until the stock runs out. Then the 80GB will be $599 back to its original price. You can buy a Elite for $480 and it comes with the 120GB HD. Considering most people don’t have HD Ready Homes and are still using their old TV’s having a Optional HD-DVD drive is there for thoes who need it. And for $180 + 5 HDDVD Movies is a great deal considering HD DVD has more features and functionality then a Blu-Ray player. Also I believe they are bundleing them together for $660 so it’s not such a bad deal. And if you don’t want to buy a HD-DVD add on you can Download them instead for cheapper through the market place which in my opinion will out do HD-DVD and Blu-Ray. Online is free on the 360 you only pay to play with oter poeple and chat. I go online all the time and this is a no brainer but XBOX Live is better and worth paying for. It is not really worth mentioning or comparing their live capabilities. The bottom line is XBOX rules online and the ability to play with Windows Live player is a bonus. As for Wi-Fi sure it should have been built in but if you a serious gamer you already know hard wire is better. The controller issue is dumb so is the head set as both do wireless. Siaxxis is cool but rumble is still king. And if your that desperate for motion you can get your controller modded. As for graphics all I have to say is why was the question possed to Jack Trenton at E3 “why the games look better on the 360 as oppose to the PS3″. I don’t care what you got under the hood because it obvious that know one knows how to drive the PS3.
