Acer to Offer Ubuntu, Pre-Loaded onto their Laptops?

Recently, I posted an article regarding Gianfranco Lanci, the don behind Acer. In the article, I explained how Gianfranco Lanci is frustrated with the disappointing Windows Vista, of which he was not very pleased with at all.
Well it looks like he’s backing up his comments made regarding the new Microsoft operating system by offering Ubuntu, pre-loaded onto their laptops.
Dell too have been searching elsewhere and looking for variety in terms of applications and operating systems, requesting for their new systems to be appropiately designed for Linux. It has not been 100% confirmed as to whether the Ubuntu laptops will be directly loaded or if they were uploaded by a different, third party company. Acer has made no official comment on the subject.
What do you think about the recent moves companies have been making to get more diversity? Should we all have to stick with windows? Or should we move on, experiment and try out new things?
Personally, I don’t see the point in fixing or improving something that suits me just fine.
