30 days of night

The movie trailer for 30 Days of Night has been posted on Sony’s official website and has been given a red band. For those who don’t know, most movie trailers begin with a green band. This means that the trailer adheres to the standards for motion picture advertising outlined by the MPAA. This includes limitations on foul language and violent, sexual or otherwise objectionable imagery.

Now, if a trailer is given a red band, this means that they don’t conform to the guidelines and may only be shown before an R-Rated, NC-17 rated or an unrated movie. You’ll probably find most cinemas don’t run them at all.

You can view these red band trailers online, but with some difficulty. slash film wrote a great article on how to view these trailers if you are over the legal age. Check out the post here if you’re having trouble viewing the trailer.

30 Days of Night involves a group of Vampires who take over a town in Alaska where there are, shock horror, 30 Days of Night. Thus allowing them to roam free and hunt in public all day every day for 30 days. The trailer is definitely a red band case. It’s graphic, without being overly graphic but enables you to have an insight into just how gory this film will be. The trailer is very intense, which is a good sign the film will be too. The film looks like it has the potential to be one heck of a horror film.
