My Xbox 360 games and Pal 60 problems

Xbox 360
Now before I get into this I must say I am so ticked of it is unreal and have pulled out all my hair. To start things off I have to say I really put all hands up and bow effortlessly to the Xbox 360, I was so confused of what games console to buy, I had the choice of the Nintendo Wii, the Playstation 3 and the Xbox 360 then I had the choice of waiting for the Xbox 360 Elite, but have to say I could not wait for the Elite so I chose the Xbox 360 and am glad to say I have made the right choice.

Right now to the “My Xbox 360 games and Pal 60 problems” I recently bought from Pixmania a 27 inch LCD HD ready TV which was from Paris, I received my LCD TV which I am very happy about. The TV is stunning and for £299 I cannot complain at all (well until now).

I got my Xbox 360 2 weeks ago and am so happy with the game play and graphics it is awesome, I got a package deal which consists of the Xbox 360 console, wireless controller, headphones, Forza 2 Motorsports game and Ghost Recon: Advanced Warfighter game (lovely). Yesterday I went out and bought 4 more games of which 3 of them work and 1 DOES NOT (damn).

Now you’re asking yourselves “WHY? Well let me explain; I get the game home I try out the first 3 briefly and am really happy, then I try the fourth which is Top Spin the tennis game, oops damn and why are you not working, I get an onscreen message saying please change over in the settings to Pal 60 because this game only works on Pal 60 NOT Pal 50.

Ok not a problem so I go to the Xbox then go to Console settings and try to change it, oh no oh blooming no it will NOT let me, why oh why will you not let me change this. To tell you the truth I am still confused, does this mean I am doing something wrong, or does it mean my new 27 inch LCD TV is not Pal 60 compatible.

What really annoys me is not the fact that this one game does NOT work but the fact is how many games out there only work on Pal 60 format, this means I have to buy another HD LCD TV.

Has anyone had this same trouble when it comes to Xbox 360 games and Pal 60 problems?

A perfectly good flame, completley screwed up by poor editing.

    Bugger!

  2. Sam says:

Go on console setting put your HD component cables in your tv and play in high def your console should play at native 720p so try it

Adrian I read about mgs 4 in xbox magazine… There’s your resource and if it isn’t true then like they said above oh well who cares. Scoob101 oh how you are so much better than everyone else. How I wish to be mature like you! They reason why all this started is because some Sony fanboy found his way in here to bash this guy when he didn’t even ask for their opinion. We came in here to see if there was a problem with our investment, but it was not. I know I don’t scour the web for Sony posts and change the subject just to rant about what I don’t like about them. We are just defending our investment in gaming to combat the ideals of the PS3 fanboys. They seem to be the ones that always throw more crap to the fan when it comes to the console war. And yes the market is big enough for all three consoles. They are just afraid that xbox might just get a bigger piece of the pie this time around and for a good reason!

I can`t be that mature if I indulge in flame wars with children about games consoles!

I was simply pointing out how pointless this all is and why. The OP got the advice he needed to fix his problem, the rest of the posts are just nonsense.

If youre so insecure about your console purchase that you have to post stuff to strangers on the internet to make yourself feel better, then I think thats rather sad. The fact that you actually care what these morons think is equally telling.

Hey mates, I didn’t want to get into an argument like this, either. All I was doing was looking up the Playstation 3 on Google News when I came across this blog, and the Anti-Playstation 3 comments urged me to set things straight, or at least even out the balance.

There’s no doubt that I’m obviously outnumbered here by Xbox 360 fanbo- erm, supporters. Maybe I’m the only person here who has factual knowledge of the Playstation 3, and I also know a lot about the Xbox 360 because I had one. If it weren’t for the defective Xbox 360’s at launch, and especially the lack of good games at launch, I wouldn’t have been discouraged from buying an Xbox 360. I’m actually glad I didn’t, because the Playstation 3 was definitely worth the wait.

I respect your opinion, Wayne, but I’m going to have to disregard your comment for now because it’s hard to relate to it since the Xbox 360 and Playstation 3 are somewhat different here in the United States.

Scoob, I also acknowledge your opinion, but not respect it because you flagrantly accuse me of being fanatic and you lack factual support. I know there is room for all 3 consoles on the market, but I support the Playstation 3, because it is a great console in my opinion, and I play it more often than I did with my Xbox 360, and I play it much more often than my Wii, (which sits under the TV for long periods at a time).

I’d like to get this one thing out of the way. Metal Gear Solid 4 will never come to the Xbox 360, so don’t get your hopes up. Kojima confirmed it, there is no loophole, and all this accumulated off of one rumor. Plus, I wouldn’t support the rumor, because it makes individuals look desperate for a great Playstation 3 exclusive like Metal Gear Solid 4. So let’s just drop the MGS4 port rumor now.

In the early comments, Ricky stated his opinion, and gave advice about the Playstation 3. Then, Matt and Mark started ranting on Ricky with something along the lines of “You’re a stupidhead!” Well, Matt said that he was stupid, which is pretty close.

I was unoccupied at the moment, and that’s why I had a lengthy period of time to think about and write a long article. After I wrote so much, I did think about the post, and I admit, it was a little unrelated. It would be better off in an article titled “The Xbox 360 is better than the Playstation 3″. I guess you could compare it to telling a kid he’s adopted during his 10th birthday party, so I apologize for starting out with such an in-depth post.

Another thing I’d like to get out of the way; The Xbox 360 has a 3-year warranty (Announced somewhat recently), and that’s good to hear. I’m not concerned because the Playstation 3 doesn’t need a 3-year warranty.

Next thing, the Playstation 2 talk is also very unrelated, but there’s no need to bring it into this discussion. Of around 120 people I know with a PS2, only about 2 or 3 had to get theirs replaced. About half of my friend’s with PS2’s have had theirs for 7 years, and they still work fine. Unfortunately, only about 6 of my friends have Xbox 360’s. My very unlucky friend purchased a defective console at launch, replaced it, then replaced his second 360 due to red lights after about a month. Two other friends had to replace their 360 once.

Lastly, I never stated that Killzone 2 would be a Halo killer. For all we know, it could be a Halo killer. Killzone 2 will be a great game, and Halo 3 is going to be an incredible game. That’s the truth. Mass Effect looks okay, but there’s a little too much RPG element for me to like it. Bioshock looks great!

But… I can play it on my PC.

Back to Halo 3. To be honest, I’m kind of jealous that Halo 3 is an Xbox 360 exclusive. The beta wasn’t too fun, but I’m sure the retail game will be better. But Microsoft has put too much focus on Halo 3. It’s going to be the biggest game of it’s year, but then what? The Xbox 360 will have one massive exclusive, and two huge exclusives, but the Playstation 3 will have three close-to-massive exclusives, three or four huge exclusives, and more than a dozen great exclusives. In my opinion, there will be a big drought after Halo 3.

  6. Plkrtn says:

But what exclusives for the PS3 are those Chris? Except the first party games like Kill Zone, Gran Turismo, and one third party game in MGS4 (which may yet prove to be anything but exclusive in the long term) what exclusives does the PS3 have? Not many. Xbox 360 won’t suffer a drought after Halo 3, as we know what is coming after September. The COMPLETE GTA4 experience, Alan Wake, and a ton of multi platform games… The simple thing is, in Europe the Xbox 360 reigns supreme, purely down to the cost, and the fact I can play the majority of the games the PS3 has for less cost!

  7. Scoob101 says:

    Chris:

So what youre saying is “My post contains facts, and therefore my assumptions and conclusions must be correct.”

Erm, it doesn`t quite work that way. Think about it. Each consumer makes a choice on his own preferences, which won`t be the same as your preferences.

There is no right and wrong. If there was, we`d all buy the same console, and the industry innovation brought about by competing brands would not exist. Is that what you want?

  8. jee says:

you don’t have 2 have an LCD HDTV for the 360 to breakdown it does not like pal 60 at all the main problem when it happens the machine will sometimes resets itself or switches itself off and the disc tray will refuse to open and it only happens when you play pal 60 all the other screen formats work fine . i heard a rumour about a dead mans switch i saw the report on a BBC show i think it was watchdog ..

  9. marcus says:

Hi, guys am kinda curious did your problem on the pal issue get resolved, also I own an xbox 360 and have had a few problems with it , but I remain happy with my choice of console and respect other peoples opinions and choices on theirs, just wish other people could focus on how to make the gaming community better, instead of mad rants about which console is best etc. we all make our own choices , lets enjoy them . cheers ( viva xbox 360 ) ha ha just kidding not ranting.

  10. Chris says:
