My Xbox 360 games and Pal 60 problems

Now before I get into this I must say I am so ticked of it is unreal and have pulled out all my hair. To start things off I have to say I really put all hands up and bow effortlessly to the Xbox 360, I was so confused of what games console to buy, I had the choice of the Nintendo Wii, the Playstation 3 and the Xbox 360 then I had the choice of waiting for the Xbox 360 Elite, but have to say I could not wait for the Elite so I chose the Xbox 360 and am glad to say I have made the right choice.
Right now to the “My Xbox 360 games and Pal 60 problems” I recently bought from Pixmania a 27 inch LCD HD ready TV which was from Paris, I received my LCD TV which I am very happy about. The TV is stunning and for £299 I cannot complain at all (well until now).
I got my Xbox 360 2 weeks ago and am so happy with the game play and graphics it is awesome, I got a package deal which consists of the Xbox 360 console, wireless controller, headphones, Forza 2 Motorsports game and Ghost Recon: Advanced Warfighter game (lovely). Yesterday I went out and bought 4 more games of which 3 of them work and 1 DOES NOT (damn).
Now you’re asking yourselves “WHY? Well let me explain; I get the game home I try out the first 3 briefly and am really happy, then I try the fourth which is Top Spin the tennis game, oops damn and why are you not working, I get an onscreen message saying please change over in the settings to Pal 60 because this game only works on Pal 60 NOT Pal 50.
Ok not a problem so I go to the Xbox then go to Console settings and try to change it, oh no oh blooming no it will NOT let me, why oh why will you not let me change this. To tell you the truth I am still confused, does this mean I am doing something wrong, or does it mean my new 27 inch LCD TV is not Pal 60 compatible.
What really annoys me is not the fact that this one game does NOT work but the fact is how many games out there only work on Pal 60 format, this means I have to buy another HD LCD TV.
Has anyone had this same trouble when it comes to Xbox 360 games and Pal 60 problems?

There is a lesson to be learned here, cheap TV’s are not always good because of the price.
Dodgy TV mate.
Erm, why are you trying to feed your HD ready TV with a crappy PAL signal???
Its a HDTV. Use component video. Or even better, if its its got a VGA connection, use that.
RTFM.
dude you were better off buying a ps3. you’re having problems already with your 360 and that is a bad sign even if it is only one game. did you know the failure rate for 360 is 33% or more meaning there is a possiblity that soonr or later urs could break down. the failure rate is only 2% on the ps3 and it is a better multimedia device overall a much better game line up to come. oh and did i mention you can’t watch hd movies on ur tv without buying a £130 hd-drive. a hd bluray comes installed in a ps3 meaning you can watch hi def movies from the word go. my opinion- you made the wrong choice and could regret it
So you buy a cheap TV and you are surprised that it won’t work properly?
Don’t be surprised when your cheap 360 crashes while playing Forza 2, scratches the disc or goes 3 red rings on you.
Fanboy rants aside for a second - He`s using the wrong cable. If he bothered to use the supplied component cable, Pal60 issues would dissapear.
Nothing to do with the price or quality of the telly.
hey you are stupid ricky dont listen to him, look ricky its not the xbox 360 he has pal on his setup witch sucks and he also has a cheap tv he didnt say it was because of the xbox 360 he said it was because of pal,and also i play forza everyday and my 360 still works and i also have had mine since it came out and i have had no problem with it,best console ever.you hd blu-ray you are stupid ricky thats why hd-dvd is selling way better than blue-ray and its not hd-drive its hd-dvd your stupid, and you said a better line up dude get out once in awile and shut up because you do not know what you are talking about.the xbox 360 has the best line up of games an exclusives than any other console.Look the xbox 360 has 40 exclusives coming out for it the ps3 only has 19,the ps3 doesnt even get the new madden 08 because its for xbox 360 only, splinter cell conviction 360 only, bio shock 360 only, mass effect 360 only, and the most wonderful game of all Halo3 360 only, theres alot more exclusiives but i dont have the time.
First of all thanks for the comments –
This one is for Scoob101: just to let you know that when I received the 360 I used the leads that was given to me, it says to connect to high definition TV connect the HD AV cable connector to the AV port on the console then set the switch on the AV connector to HDTV (this connector has TV or HDTV, I have switched it over to HDTV) because the LCD TV I bought supports high definition resolutions such as 480p, 720p and 1080i, then it says connect the red, green and blue color banded video connectors on the HD AV cable to the corresponding color inputs (y,Cb/Pb,Cr/Pr) on your TV. Leave the yellow banded composite video connector unconnected. Then it goes on to connect the solid colour left and right (white and red) audio connectors on the HD TV. So after all of this I thought this would work.
This one is for Ricky lakhay: Ok so you informed us of the failure rate for 360 which is 33% or more and the failure rate is only 2% on the PS3, my answer to that is, of course the failure rate will be much higher than the Xbox 360. But you have to look at it like this, the 360 has been out much longer than the PS3 but trust me within time the PS3 rate of failure will very high. If you only looking for gaming, graphics, great choice of games and online gaming then there is no way anything will beat the Xbox 360.
So my overall question is “Have I used the right cable? Well I have to say yes I did because it says if connecting to a high definition TV use these connectors and switch the switch on the AV connector to HDTV which I did.
“If you only looking for gaming, graphics, great choice of games and online gaming then there is no way anything will beat the Xbox 360″
WTH are you talking about? 360 got almost nothing. The only decent games are Halo 3 and DOA series. And that’s it.
Don’t even think about talking about your “Gears of War” or “Lost Planet” because I can play them on my PC.
And what great choice of online games do you have when you don’t have a Gold membership account? Just lame.
Also PS3 will definitely beat Xbox360. Just wait till MGS4 and KZ2 will come out.
Ok Mark, now that youve said that you are using the component cables, set to HDTV, that means that the PAL 60 settings dissapear from the dashboard (because ou are not feeding a PAL signal any more). So thats why it won`t “let you” change that setting - you can`t change something thats not being used.
As for TopSpin moaning about PAL60 when using component cables, thats just plain wrong. You are not feeding a PAL signal to the TV, you are feeding a component video signal, so the game asking for PAL60 is just incorrect. Check the xbox video settings. Make sure your video resolution is set to 720p or 1080i. Check the TV reports the same resolution when you change to component on the TV set. If all that is OK, then it must be game and should be returned.
Anyway, thats enough of that. Time for some petty, mindless fanboy nonsense. PS3 SUXX!!!!!
(yawn)
Thanks Scoob101 you the man, and must say i made the right choice. PS3 is expensive and boring.
