Halo 3 has the most hype any Xbox game has ever had even Gears of War

I have had many people come up to me and say “Halo 3 has had more hype than any other Xbox game, and that includes Gears of War.” I would have to agree with this, but I did add to these people that all the hype surrounding the upcoming Xbox 360 game Halo 3 has come from the anticipation of Halo fans and not from Bungie.
The Hype is just huge with Halo 3, when you think some people are purchasing a new Xbox 360 console just to be able to play this new game. Bungie are very cleaver when it comes to new game releases, they have not released much about the new Halo 3 game, just tiny treats everything else is speculation and clouded.
The difference with Halo and Gears of War is the fact that the fan base with Halo is just huge, so it is a no brainer as to which game would have all the hype. Some would say that Gear of War is a much better game, as it did not need all the hype as Halo 3 has needed.
Halo 3 has proven to have more hype as we had two stories running; one was about leaked scans of Halo 3 new weapons and vehicles, this drove a lot of traffic for us. We also had another post about new Gears of War action figures, we thought the response would be huge but how wrong we were.

HALO 3 Sucks is just over hyped KILLZONE 2 thats the game u wanna get.
sadly when a game like this is the most exciting thing on a console it sais alot for the originality of all the other games. as with the first halo carrying the original xbox it looks like halo3 wilol do the same with the 360. bit of a shame really

You’re obviously a spotty 11 year old Sony fanboy but i’ll play along. The hype that follows Halo 3 is down to the fact that Halo 1 and 2 were massive hits.
The hype that Killzone 2 has generated is down to the fact that Sony showed a video of killzone 2 at the E3 2005 and LIED that it was gameplay running on a dev kit.

Now Sony is spending a huge budget trying to cover their lie by making killzone 2 look at least half as good as the 2005 trailer but what’s been forgotten in all of this is that Killzone 1 played like crap and i’ve not seen any evidence so far to suggest that Killzone 2 will play any better.
I own an Xbox 360 and I’m not all that excited by Halo 3. I’m much more excited about games like Mass Effect, Assassins Creed and Call of Duty 4.
I’ll probably get Halo 3 if it’s good but you won’t find me queuing for the game on day one. After all IT’S JUST A GAME! And it’ll still be there a week, a month, hell a couple of years after release.

Ive played the beta…yes the game is repetative but more fair than halo 2, less glitches, more weapons helps, but it is getting repetitive…i just cant wait for story mode apparently when you fight the Scarab there are more enemies then in all of halo 1’s biggest lvl thats gonna be insane
Oh and forge the map editor is gonna be awesome

just really want COD4 for the single player
@ mike, i agree with denouncing ivan_psp’s comment as it was childish and fanboyish, but seriously, i have the NEW REAL TIME GAMEPLAY trailer of killzone 2 on my ps3 and i watch it in 1080p and i also have the other one on there too, and though the 05 trailer does look better, this new one is still something to marvel at, the lighting, atmospheric effects, character animations, i’m stunned at the quality, they did a damn good job, and just so you know, i never played killzone 1 and i won’t, but the hype behind killzone 2 is based off the new trailer not the previous game(by that logic halo 3 will suck because halo 2 sucked) and it does look stunning, if you can’t see that, you are either blind or a fanboy. But to comment on the actual article, i agree this is the most hyped game in history, i try not to listen as it usually ruins a game, when I pop in Halo3 for the first time, i want to be suprised and not let down because of hype i’ve read. so i don’t read it, now lets just hope my 5th 360 doesn’t die on me before then
Hoser, your comment was pretty descent until you said- “by that logic halo 3 will suck because halo 2 sucked”-, first halo 2 didn’t sucked, it was a huge inprovement over the first, what players where mad at was the storyline(that left question without answer because the graphic novel was coming in)and sonyfanboys took that a sign to bash halo. Also, i don’t know man but if my xbx360 would have broken 4 times already(it haven’t not even once, maybe cause is the elite but who knows) i would be stupid to keep having it either they fix it for free that would just piss me off. Let’s go back to the main point a yeah is the most hiped, beacuse all the game have been good as it is whith mgs and mario so we can say that all consoles have hiped games then.

You tried so hard not to sound like a fanboy but i guess you couldn’t help yourself, read my post again and see where you went wrong.
I don’t remember saying the graphics looked bad in either the PS2 version which i own, or the NEW REAL TIME GAMEPLAY trailer which i have seen.
My point was that the first killzone, gameplay wise was medioca at best and the hype that Killzone 2 has generated in the last couple of years was down to the infamous 2005 E3 and was not down to the orginal game being a highly successful franchise, because it was not.
I’m very much into FPS’s but i don’t judge them on eye candy alone, i don’t think the Halo games have ever been the most visually stunning games but they are by far the most fun.
You obviously don’t own a 360, nice try with “now lets just hope my 5th 360 doesn’t die on me” comment

I don’t pretend to own a PS3 but i do have a PS2 and killzone 1, the story is pretty poor the enemies are samey and the game slows down to a crawl when the screen gets busy, i’ll judge Killzone 2 when i get a chance to play it.

Halo 3 is the most hyped game and it will sell a lot. Probably 8 to 10 million maybe. But will it move systems or do the the majority of the 360 owners that plan on getting Halo 3 already have a 360? That is the real question. Answer coming this Christmas.
