It seems like Dell really have taken a liking to the open-source operating system, Linux. Amit Bhutani told a session at the Ubuntu Live 2007 conference that Dell has several “areas of investigation” when it comes to Linux. What on earth that’s supposed to mean, we’re not sure. What’s certain is that Dell have been making a lot of room recently for Linux, especially with their recent efforts to bring on this new, favourite operating system.

As reported on the Phoronix website, Dell wants better support for audio/video codecs, printers, ATI video cards, wireless networking, TV tuners and remotes, LCD TVs, projectors and 3D effects.

Bhutani apparently told attendees at the session that “Dell knows that it will not happen overnight”.
