New Mobile Phone Laws Could Increase Motor Insurance

Motorists ignoring mobile phone laws be aware. Using a mobile phone whilst driving not only carries a fixed penatly fine, but could also increase your car insurance.
Whilst Police forces are cracking down on motorist using their mobile phones, research by ‘Admiral Car Insurance’ has shown that the average yearly premium could incease of upto £100.00.
“If you receive a motoring conviction no matter what offence it is for, you must inform your car insurance company. This will often result in a higher renewal premium because evidence shows that people with motoring convictions are a higher insurance risk” Sue Longthorn, Managing Director, Admiral.
Research shows that 33% of motorist still use their mobile phones, which is an improvement of last years 37%. 91% of motorists agree with the ban, even though 30% of women and 36% of men use their phones illegally (research from Admirals Annual Survey of 1000 motorists).
