Lloyd Overclock would have continued to lease his phone, had his niece not had a sneak peak at one of the bills lying on a kitchen table. The 85-year-old has for five decades been paying a monthly fee to lease his phone, recently realising that the arrangement is an overpriced throwback to the days of the telephone revolution.
The neice said that “if something goes wrong with that phone, they’d have a new one here the next business day. I was thinking to myself, If something goes wrong with that phone, I’ll go to Wal-Mart and get one the next day. But I didn’t say it.”
No need to worry ladies and gentleman, the 85-year-old is now using a $7 wall phone from wal-mart, which works like a charm.
