Hundred’s of people have been desperately searching, posting and scrambling on forums accross the internet for the past few hours, trying to find an answer to their question: What’s going on with my Hotmail Inbox?

After clicking on their inbox, many hotmail users are prompted with a message saying that they have a virus. This is an occuring problem, and at this moment in time there is no way of getting around it.

What’s even more odd is that after scanning the computer for a hotmail virus, nothing can be found? Is this ‘hotmail virus’ an internal problem or a super hidden hotmail virus lurking around the computer?

Have you experienced the problem or know of a solution to this hotmail virus? Post a comment if you have experienced the irritating inbox error, if you have an idea as to how to get around the hotmail virus error… or if you just want to comment on the situation, let us know how you feel!

I’m not receiving a virus msg but rather one that says that the servers are overloaded and to try back later. I can sometimes get as far as the sign-in page but then will invariably receive the message again. The last full access to my hotmail account was at 9:50 EST.

Yes I had that problem late last night (10:30p est). Avaste gave me the warning about stopping a virus/malware from downloading. Tried with 2 different hotmail accounts, same thing. Very frustrating and couldn’t find anything substantial on the web to fix this problem yet.

One thing is that I checked my hotmail earlier in the evening last night and it was fine, so something must have happened very recently.

On my work laptop with IE and Symantec AV, it refuses to load the inbox. On my personal computer with Firefox and Avast AV I get a warning message almost every time I go to the inbox. It started yesterday late afternoon and is still happening.

mine simply says “server temporarily unavailable”.
which is particuarly annoying because i have much work on my account and the deadline is tomorow…
if this really is a problem made by hotmail i would not be very angry
but if this is a hacker which i suspect!! i will be furious who are these people?

Same here… Last night, my Avast detected some tomfoolery caused by some Hotmail file. Today I’m not allowed to sign into Hotmail, so I guess they’re working on it.

Like V Francis I am unable to get into my hotmail, I have been trying for nearly two hours, it has been down since 3.40pm (British Summer Time) and it is now 17.15pm.

I was fine using my Hotmail up until about midday today (27th July UK time) when my Avast suddenly out of the blue said I had a virus coming from Hotmail, it wouldn’t let me do anything apart from break the connection and then delete the file. I did a scan and all was fine so I tried again and the same thing happened, it said I had a virus. I haven’t tried again since, I don’t want to risk going back on Hotmail, I just wanted to check and see if this was a big problem. It’s annoying.

I’m on a Mac OS 10.4 Camino browser (Mozilla based). I get:

    Server Temporarily Unavailable

Hotmail was slow for me this morning and only loading the classic version for slower connections. It’s been down completely for 2 hrs nows. Server too busy. Looks like they pulled it offline to fix whatever is going on.

down here for a few hours too…. I reallly needed to get into it today too.

It started this morning (GMT +1). Avast rang the alarm right when I accessed the inbox of my hotmail account. According to Avast I had been hit by a Trojan called VBS Malware. The solution for me was to run Avast on everything in my computer (12 files in quarantine) and then empty caches, history and get rid of all cookies on both IE and Firefox. And only use Firefox afterwards since I didn’t want to risk running IE when the Trojan seemed to be targeted for things running Visual Basic Script. I was able to access my Hotmail Inbox after that. Which took almost until lunch to figure out.

That was 12 hours ago. The last hour or so I have not been able to access my Hotmail account at all. To me this indicates that Hotmail is trying to get rid of this Malware.

I’ve been getting the “Due to an internal error your request cannot be processed” message. I’m just glad it’s not only my account! I was worried my acccount had been deleted!
