European Commission Issues Charges Against Intel: Illegal Tactics?

Allegedly, Intel have been using illegal tactics against smaller rival AMD (Advanced Micro Devices) a European Commision spokesman said. The Commission, the European Union’s top antitrust regulator, has spent many years investigating Intel’s tactics to come to that decision that they acted unfairly to preserve their dominance over AMD.
“I can confirm the statement of objections has been sent,” said Ton Van Lierop, a spokesman for the European Commission. Intel have yet to make an immediate comment.
AMD has claimed that Intel maintained its share of the $33 billion market for microprocessors by “engaging in a relentless, worldwide campaign to coerce customers to refrain from dealing with AMD”.
Intel was accused by AMD of “offering illegal marketing rebates, selectively disclosing technical information and threatening circuit board makers that used rival products”.
Both companies lead the market for creating CPU chips, sharing between them 1 billion of the world’s personal devices and computers.
