China Piracy Tackled By FBI, 82% of Software in China is Counterfeit

Impressively, $500 million of pirated software has been taken hold of by the FBI in a huge project aimed at cutting down China’s ridiculous piracy statistics. The FBI and China’s Public Security Bureau have arrested 25 people, who are charged with selling or distributing the $2 billion of pirated software already sold.
The gang was well-known for producing and distributing pirated versions Microsoft’s best-selling programs including Windows Vista and XP plus the popular Office 2003 and 2007.
Microsoft said in its statement. “Countries around the world are expected to experience a significant decrease in the volume of counterfeit software as a direct result of this action,”.
Personally, I feel it’s always good to see piracy being cut down, but perhaps this was the wrong approach. Even with the help of piracy, Microsoft would be broadening their market, nailing down potential customers to their service. Do you agree? let us know how you feel on the situation.
