The NBA Referee Salary: Is it worth it?

Is it worth it?

Every thought you might like to be a NBA referee?

Does the NBA referee salary justify the work?

The NBA referee salary can be anywhere from $90,000 to a massive $225,000 now that doesn’t sound too bad, does it?

However, do you think that these salaries are justified? To earn the NBA referee salary you have to officiate at NBA games and of course the job requires a intensive knowledge of basketball and the laws of the game.

But if you are an NBA referee you get to go to all the games and you are right next the star NBA players, something many people would pay to do, let alone be paid to do. Mind you…you are the one who has to be brave enough to tell people like Shaq to leave the court! (Where there is a danger you could be eaten)

The trouble is that if you dropped the NBA referee salary to a lower amount, many high quality referees would leave the NBA and therefore the standard of the game of basketball would drop.

More importantly, if the NBA referee salary was too low, it would be more tempting for NBA referees to take bribes in match fixing scandals – which is very bad for basketball.

Still, could you become and NBA referee?

What do you make of the NBA referee salary?
