multi-gigabit WiFi research

Now with some amazing new multi-gigabit WiFi research could in fact allow you to download an entire DVD to a cellphone and that’s the start of it, Georgia Electronic Design Center (GEDC) researchers at Georgia Tech has just released the most amazing high speed wireless data that transfers at a staggering 15Gbps at a one meter range.

The research is still at its early stages, as data rates drop off steeply with just a tiny added distance 10Gbps at two meters, 5Gbps at five meters. The ever growing possibilities for speeds of this sort is very promising indeed. Researchers have said that at 10Gbps they rekon that you could download the entire DVD of Beaches to a cellphone in five seconds, now that is fast because takes how long to receive data normally via Bluetooth.

Now how hot would this be for you?
