Gavin Hood to Direct X-Men spin-off movie Wolverine movie

Gavin Hood has now been hired by 20th Century Fox to direct the X-Men spin-off movie Wolverine. The script has been written by David Benioff and Hugh Jackman is to reprise his role as Wolverine.
It seems that Hood managed to get the role as director of Wolverine because Fox bosses saw a cut of his new movie Rendition. The news that Gavin is to direct this movie is a bit of a blow for both Brett Ratner and Len Wiseman, directors of X-Men: The Last Stand, as they were supposed to be very interested in the role.
The story behind the Wolverine movie will have loads of action scenes as you would expect, but also will help tell the story of how Logan had managed to escape his kidnappers while at an experimental facility where he was made in to this indestructible mutant.
It is said that Hugh Jackman is being offered $20 million to not only star but al produce in the movie. Production begins in November, and will be released sometime in 2008.
