By: Daniel Chubb | July 22, 2007 | Leave a CommentThe NYC Triathlon is beginning to get under way today as competitors flood to the Big Apple to compete in race which combines, running, swimming and cycling.
More than 3000 athletes from across the USA are coming to New York City to compete in the 7th Annual Nautica New York City Triathlon.
During the race competitors will swim one and a half kilometres in the Hudson River. Competitors swim southwards before making the switch from swimming to biking.
Then there is the 40k bike ride which stretches from Riverside Park to the north bound entrance of the Henry Hudson Highway. Then they will be cycling across the Hudson Rive Bridge and after winding around a little they will end up at Henry Hudson Parkway at 79th street.
The run is 10 km long and and takes the athletes through Central Park. This is the most spectacular part of the triathlon. Runners exit Riverside Park and then proceed to cross 72nd Street to Central Park and loop around the northern part of Central Park, finishing on Dead Road for the finale!.
If you are in NYC, go and take a look at the NYC Triathlon and cheers these brave athletes on!
