Lake Placid Ironman Triathlon
By: Daniel Chubb | July 22, 2007 | Leave a CommentThe Lake Placid Ironman triathlon race really does require a man, or woman, of iron to complete in it.
To begin with competitors must complete a 2.4 mile swim across Mirror Lake.
This is followed up by a 112 mile bike ride.
And if you have collapsed just thinking about that, there is a 26.2 mile run after that – that’s a whole marathon!
The pros in this race are chasing a $50,000 prize plus 10 qualifying spots in the Oct. 13 Ironman World Championship in Kona, Hawaii. There are also 70 Kona spots up for grabs for age-group athletes.
Could you ever attempt a gruelling race like the Lake Placid Ironman Triathlon?
