By: Daniel Chubb | July 20, 2007 | Leave a CommentThe Belgian Cyclist Tom Boonen has won the 12th stage of the Tour de France cycling race.
The 12th stage is over 178.5-km and is the second stage Boonen has won, having claimed victory in the 6th stage as well.
Boonen won a group sprint at the end of the stage as Erik Zabel of Germany and South African Robert Hunter followed in second and third place respectively.
Yesterday, Boonen was delayed in making the sprint as there was a big crash before the final 1000m.
“Yesterday, I was not lucky, today was okay,”
“I had won the last sprint before the Alps, now I win the last sprint before the Pyrenees. It’s good for my morale.”
Although Danish Michael Rasmussen finished in a good enough position to retain the overall leader’s yellow jersey.
