NBA Star Yao Ming Retaliates At “Privileged” Accusations
By: Daniel Chubb | July 20, 2007 | Leave a CommentThe NBA star and center for the Houston Rockets, Yao Ming, has retaliated to accusations in a newspaper in China that said he was “privileged”.
The newspaper also accused to basketball star of using injuries to skip doing his duty for the Chinese national basketball team.
The article in the paper, The China Sports Daily, said, “No matter how sweet personal life is, it can’t be compared to capturing glory for the nation.”
Yao Ming has said that the comments are unfair saying, “”I know Chinese law protects people’s right of speech but I feel this is unfair on me. I entered the national team at the age of 18 and have competed for the national team for 10 years.”
Do you think these comments are unfair?
Surely if Yao is injured then he cannot be expected to play?
