Atlanta Falcons quarterback Michael Vick Indicted in Dog Fighting
By: Daniel Chubb | July 18, 2007 | 3 CommentsMichael Vick, the quarterback for the Atlanta Falcons and three other man were indicted on conspiracy charges related to a dog fighting operation.
According to the U.S. Attorney’s Office, they were charged with conspiracy to travel in interstate commerce in aid of unlawful activities and to sponsor a dog in an animal-fight venture.
If found guilt of these charges, Michael Vick and the other men could face five years behind bars up to $250,000 in fines.
The NFL has recently been having a crack down of the illegal behaviour of NFL players off the field and the NFL has said it will review the case before considering possible suspensions.
“We are disappointed that Michael Vick has put himself in a position where a federal grand jury has returned an indictment against him,” the league said in a statement.
“We will continue to closely monitor developments in this case, and to cooperate with law enforcement authorities. The activities alleged are cruel, degrading and illegal.
“Michael Vick’s guilt has not yet been proven, and we believe that all concerned should allow the legal process to determine the facts.”
Do you think Vick is guilty?
