This new reactors are expected to reduce the amount of harmful radioactive nuclear waste by up to 40%.
In total, ten companies will be working with the Government of Japan on this project which will cost around 60 billion yen.
The reactor should be commercially available by 2015.
With fossil fuels running out and global warming becoming an ever increasing threat, should we be switching to nuclear more quickly?
