First Microsoft Surface Now Linux MPX Multi-touch Table
By: Daniel Chubb | July 16, 2007
This is the Linux-based MPX multi-touch table which as you can see in the video below looks pretty cool, some may say not as cool as Microsoft Surface but things do look good in the world of free penguins.
Over at Gizmodo they got to talk to Peter Hutterer who is the developer on the project, he explains how Multi-Pointer X (MPX) is a modification of the X Windows Server and will allows users to use multiple input devices at the same time.
They also claim there are many better features about the Linux-based MPX multi-touch table, like the fact that the combination of a Mitsubishi Electric DiamondTouch display table and a MPX-enabled Linux system recognizes four different unique users, while the Microsoft Surface Table allows multiple users to interact with it, but they don’t recognize as unique yet.
Watch the video below to get a better idea on how the Linux-based MPX multi-touch table works and also visit the link below for more information.
The software is still in development and there are a ton of bugs to fix, but things are looking good.
