It now seems as if Microsoft’s day has just got far worse than that of Sony, as Microsoft has now publically admitted that not some but “ALL” of their Xbox 360 games consoles have a design defect which could lead to a terminal failure. However they still refuse to issue a recall.
Sony have been worrying about low sales of their Playstation 3, but I bet that that was all Microsoft had to worry about. Robbie Bach from Microsoft’s Xbox360 Division has refused to elaborate on the exact issue of the failure, but many believe that it is down to a dodgy thermal design management this leads to poor heat dissipation, what then happens is a component failure.
All of the 11.6 million Xbox 360’s which have been sold have this defect, but the strange thing is Microsoft has not issued a global recall. However they have extended the warranty on the consoles from one to three years.
Are you happy that Microsoft has extended the standard warranty, or would you welcome a recall?

a recall is in order…must this be asked?
Still waiting to see your source!
Why would me and about 20 other 360 users i know of want a recall when our consoles have worked flawlessly from day one.
Why did’nt you call for a recall of the PS2, i’m on my third and a 3 year warranty would have saved me a lot of cash, i don’t think i know anybody still with their original console.
Yeh well we know that only microsoft can sell a dodgy product to the world and get away with it. If a source is provided for this, i will be very happy to rub it in alot of my friends faces who chose 360 over ps3, i will only have to buy 1, resulting in the 360 being more expensive overall.
SOURCE??????????????????
yeh the steve that keeps asking for a source isnt me, the first poster.. dont know why he had to put the same name
Here you go i’m now Steve 2.
Sorry i forgot how touchy Sony fanboy’s get.
.. i didnt wanna get mixed up with you because you were the one crying about the source XD
“Chris Lewis, regional vice president of Xbox EMEA, said that the so-called ‘three red light problem’ is triggered, not by a single fault, but by a combination of factors that would NOT AFFECT ALL MACHINES.”

Obviously you do not have a source but like to mislead everybody, nice fud site your running!
@M. Wicket
You can’t be in your third year with the 360 it hasn’t been out two years yet.
@jaime
I think if microsoft canned the 360 and released a console in a year or so it would go the way of the dreamcast. Sega did had a similar move destroy their hardware business.
@Steve (not sure which one)
re:”Sony never admitted to the problem to my knowledge…”
Sony had a class action lawsuit against them and issued a recall to repair consoles early one. The problems had to due with a faulty disc drive. Not sure if it was the same problem as yours. For me it would have been difficult for me to find out about a recall simply because I didn’t search around the internet for consoles back then.

I don’t know if microsoft has stated that there is a problem with all 360’s but I believe there is a design flaw. Even if only 10% of the consoles fail, as opposed to the retailer estimates of around 33%, I’m still worried mine would fail. I’ve had my ps3 on for a week and I’m not worried about it, but I worry playing my 360 that I’ll go to turn it on, and it work work.
In my opinion they could offer a recall and repair only those nessessary and send back the ones with the additional heatsink, assuming that it fixes the problems completely, to alleviate concerns that the console has problems.
xbox is rubbish because of this dan ashdown is a loser and simon should get a ps3 or i will poo in his nostrils - runny
