Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix
The all new film Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix is the 5th book in the Harry Potter series of books by J. K. Rowling and this book is about Harry Potters 5th year at Hogwarts, the new movie was announced by Warner Brothers with the same name as the book and would be released in Cinemas on 13th July 2007 in the US and a set date for the 12th July in the UK, but changes have been made and was later moved to the 11th July in the US for some apparent reason. The movie is about Harry Potter having an agitating summer and not only is he bracing himself for the catastrophe that is sure to accompany Voldemort’s return he is also stuck in Privet Drive for a month. Potter has little contact from the wizardry world that he is used too.

I was disappointed with this Harry Potter film. It was like watching an episode in a soapie, no real beginning, storyline or end … had I never seen a Harry Potter movie before I wouldn’t have had a clue what the story was about and it would have been 2 hours and 20 minutes of boredom. Other than some decent cinematography and scenery it didn’t have much else to recommend it. Wouldn’t go and see another at the cinema if this is the quality, will wait for the dvd.

in response to Alicia, why the hell should someone have to read the book before they go to see a movie for it to make any sense? that is just stupid.

Well what can I say about this film. Being a massive HP fan I have waited patiently for the biggest disappointment this year. Out of all the books Order of the Phoenix was my favourite and I have now read it several times. When I finally got the chance to see the film I thought it was total and utter rubbish. For those who have not read the book I would imagine would find themselves very lost and confused and for those who have read it would be horrified to see how badly they have butchered one of the most amazing books ever written. The Director either needs to pull his finger out or needs to be replaced before he taints this incredible creation forever.

4. Rachel Edwards says:

Okay, all in all, the latest Potter movie deserves a 5/10.

Wait before you start bitching about why it should be rated as such.

The parts in the movie that the did show from the book, were exceptionally well done for the most part. However, again, things just seemed to speed along waaay to quickly. It’s almost as though the director and script writers try to see just how fast they can move the storyplot along this time, almost as a contest.

The Harry/Sirius bonding moments, while what they did show were good, they were also drastically cut back on. If you read the book and view the movie, and you know how much more bonding there was between the two of them through out Harry’s fifth year, you would’ve been HIGHLY dissapointed in the movie as a whole to begin with. (Again, unless you’re one of the ones who only goes to see HP because you want to oogle Harry, or Draco, or Ron, or the Twins, or Harry and Cho snogging, but if you are, then I’m sure no one really cares what your opinion on the matter is anyways. You’re just along for the ride.)

Everything concerning the Order, was barely there. Harry’s trial was a bit of a joke, as was the Tonks character. I think she got… what? Two different scenes, and that was it? When readers of the book know she was included in waaaay more than that. Ginny’s character was cut short as well, we never did get to view Sirius’s mum or the scene with all the kids and Mrs. Weasley attempting to clean Grimmauld Place and stumbling across the locket, and there was so much more that was lacking in this one.

Rather than put the time and effort into, I believe five bloody different camera pans of Harry and Cho snogging, they could’ve invested that time into other more emotional/important/lacking aspects of the movie.

Please, don’t even get me started on the Department of Mysteries, or the Veil or even Sirius’s death scene.
FIRST OFF, when Bellatrix and Sirius were dueling, she DID NOT HIT HIM WITH THE AVADA KEDAVRA CURSE, she hit Sirius with A STUNNING CHARM and he FELL BACKWARDS INTO THE VEIL!!
Now the movie producers/director/etc. have TOTALLY screwed themselves over if Sirius does indeed make a re-appearence in the Seventh book as is rumored, especially if the Potter movies manage to get all the way up to the last one. THERE IS NO COMING BACK FROM AVADA KEDAVRA!

Ugh, and they COMPLETELY OBLITERATED the scene towards the end where Harry goes to talk to Nearly-Headless Nick about Ghosts, and whether or not Sirius could return to Harry as a ghost. They also completely cut out the scene in which Sirius gives the two way mirrors to Harry, again, screwing themselves out of Sirius being able to ever contact Harry ever again, if he should indeed do so as is rumored for Book seven.

There was so much horribly wrong with OotP, if I would be to fully write out everything that was wrong with it, everyone would be reading several pages worth.

I know, when movies are produced from books, that not everything can be included and a lot of stuff is skipped over and changed. Yes, I am fully and completely aware of that fact, however the way the movie has now butchered Order of the Pheonix, is completely unjust and has me wondering if I will even go and see Half-Blood Prince if and when it comes out.

I suppose we’ll just have to see how the movie does as far as ticket sales go…

6. Rachel Edwards says:

…aaaand as a response to Alicia above, GoF was a longer book than OotP and the movie was waaaaaay better in comparison. So you may want to check all of your facts before you post something like that first, sweetie.

7. shea says:

I totally and 100% agree with Rachel Edwards! A round of applause definitely goes to you!!! :) :) :)

8. elif gazioglu says:

were harry has to use his mind to fight lod vordimor. that is the same thing with aniken skywalker. but the problem is that aniken turns in to darth vater. and mabe harry might be voltimor helper at the and of the 7th book. becase they both have aner probles. and i am talking to harry and anikin.

9. nick says:

this movie sucks, i would strongly advise anyone who has not already seen the movie to save your money.

10. r.kekona says:

Rachel Edwards….you got it girl! This shouldve been the movie that explained a lot. Tons of key points were left out that shouldve been brought to life & unless you didnt read the book, you wouldnt notice that. Emotions are born in this story (book) but failed on screen!! kudos to you because I thought I was the only one who felt that way!!!
