Dell to sell Linux PC’s outside US

It has been announced that Dell are to sell their PC’s with Linux preinstalled on them outside the US. Dell are also to offer the Ubuntu Linux distribution to small business customers, but they have not released details of what countries it will be available for, but digital media manager from Dell Lionel Menchaca, has said that more details will be revealed shortly.

Dell only started to sell Dell computers with Ubuntu 7.04 Linux distribution preinstalled on them just in May, so they have made the decision very quick to offer this in other countries apart from the US. It seems that having Linux on a Dell PC is in popular demand in the UK, which is why Dell has had to react to public demand.

It seems that Dell are trying their best to move back to the top when it comes to the PC market, as HP knocked them off a few months ago.
