Microsoft have announced price cuts for all three of their Xbox 360 models, the Xbox 360 Core pack was $299 and has been dropped to $249, a saving of $50. The Xbox 360 Premium pack was $399 which has now been dropped to $349, also a saving of $50. Finally the Xbox 360 Elite was $479 and has now been dropped to $399, that’s a massive saving of $80.
But Sony are hot on Microsoft’s heels, the standard 60Gb PS3 has recently seen a price cut which puts it almost at the same price as the Xbox 360 Elite at $479, this has helped the Sony Playstation to improve sales on Amazon by 2800%. This has now led to the PS3 outselling the popular Nintendo Wii.
The price of the Sony Playstation 3 is now $499, that is a massive $100 saving, although it is still the most expensive console on the market it shows that it has been the price which is the cause poor sales, a problem that Sony are now trying to rectify
