Live Earth Was staged around the world on Saturday in Shanghai, Sydney, Johannesburg, London (Wembley Stadium), Brazil, Japan, United States, and Antarctica.
Live Earth was a 24-hour, 7-continent concert series that took place on 7/7/07 that brought together more than 100 music artists and 2 billion people to trigger a global movement to solve the climate crisis.
Though its aim was to raise world awareness about climate change, Live Earth was also an amazing convergence of musical talent that covers the spectrum of popular music.
This concert showcased a stunning array of stars that assembled to confront the challenges that we, as one world, face in addressing the global-warming imperative.
Saturday’s Live Earth concerts is said to have been the largest media event ever. But for former Vice President Al Gore, the driving force behind Live Earth, the concerts are but the springboard for a three-year campaign to convince the world of the urgency of climate change.
“The planet doesn’t have a PR agent,” Mr. Gore said Saturday. “But now it will, because the Alliance for Climate Protection is going to use the modern techniques of messaging to get the scientific evidence in front of people all over the world.”
