We’ve heard of exploding batteries in phones, causing someone to get a little shock or scratch but this is definitely something else. A 22 year old Chinese welder has died after a cell phone battery exploded.
Reports have come in that the eruption was so brutal that it broke one of his ribs, driving the remnant of the cell into his heart. Rescue crews were able to get him to a hospital but he passed away shortly after.
The manufacturer of the phone and battery have not been named, but expects in Jinta were dispatched in order to conduct an investigation.
