Apple Deny Reports that they are quitting iTunes: We are still negotiating with Universal

Reports are saying that record label Universal Music Group are not planning on renewing contracts to sell music thought iTunes as been thwarted by Apple. Apple are denying these reports/rumors and are in fact still in negotiating with Universal. Many sources like the Wall St. Journal, New York Times and so on have said before that Universal planned to end its contract with Apple. “We are still negotiating with Universal,” Apple spokesman Tom Neumayr said. “Their music is still on iTunes and their not re-signing is just not true.”
This would been a major blow if all this was true but as you can see Apple deny these rumors and are in negotiation.
What are your views on this matter? And would it affect you if these rumors were true?

Universal is doing the right thing by cutting off relations with Apple. On another site people were showing why Apple is about to get in big trouble over its iPhone, and that is likely to spill over to the iTunes side. The iPhone is apparently infringing other people’s IP big time, as is iTunes; and supposedly it isn’t by coincidence but due to IP theft, with the victim now teaming up with Apple’s rivals. Hence Apple is on the brink of major problems, and Universal is smart to seek deals with other industry players.
