Figures are in from Tuesday night’s box office and it is estimated that Transformers has taken an estimated $29.5 million. This mammoth sum of money means that the Michael Bay’s movie has exceeded all previous records held for the biggest Tuesday opening of all time.

The movie’s takings thwarted Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead man’s chest’s meager $15.7 million and it’s likely to become the 4th best opening day of 2007 with only Spiderman, Pirates and Shrek 3. Added to this huge sum is the $8 million the movie took on Tuesday night and in 28 hours the film has bought in a staggering $38 million. Wow, that’s not too shabby now is it?

The film is expected to keep bringing in the revenue over the first 7 days of opening and total sales in a week is set to be around $140-150 million.

Anyone for Transformers 2? With these figures, I think it’s fairly likely!
