Doctor Who’s new companion is Comedian Catherine Tate
Following on from our story yesterday about who Dr Who’s new companion would be, we can now reveal that it will be comedian Catherine Tate. Catherine made a guest appearance in the 2006 Christmas episode of Dr Who and will now be his new companion for series four.

Tate will join David Tennant for the complete 13-week run of the fourth series of Dr Who, as Freema Agyeman is taking a break from Dr Who for a while, but will return later in the series.

This year’s Christmas special is to star pop princess Kylie Minogue.
After last year’s successful Christmas episode which pulled in 9.4 million viewers, Catherine Tate was asked at a press screening if she would like to become the Dr’s new companion, in which she replied “I would love to, but no one has asked.”
The fourth series of Doctor Who is hoped to be back on our screens in the spring 2008.
