Xbox 360 Launch Consoles: failure rate more than 33%

It has been reported by retailers that one in every three Xbox 360 games consoles fail, as they have a failure rate of around 33%. As you know the Xbox 360 is by far the most successful game of our generation, for how long we do not know as the Nintendo Wii is gaining on 360 fast.
Although Microsoft are selling more consoles and have more game titles than any other console there is one flaw, and that is with their reliability. They are prone to failure more than any other games console, an area that Microsoft wishes to rectify.
The strange thing is that Microsoft says that the failure rate is around 3 to 5%, which they believe is well within industry standards. This is a different figure to what Xbox users give, as they say that the failure is far higher.

I just can’t understand some people. Anything with a failure rate 20% or higher is unacceptable!! As a consumer I expect to be treated with respect no matter what I am buying and regarless of price. But a 33% failure rate is pathetic, Microsoft should apologize, and the EU should sue them for having such an unrealiable product!! God know it would never happen in America, they could have a 50% failure rate and they would still be stocked in retail shops. With their failure rate there is NO way i would even contemplate buying or selling any xbox3shittys
lol, one Australian retailer reports this and now its a fact, what a joke. I know dozens of people with 360s and only one has had any problems at all. I love how news travels around the internet
Check your facts, the real rate is probably around 15%, which is too high, but not anywhere near the 33% your reporting.
I believe it! I my self am on my 3rd 360 in just over a year, but wait MS will fix it for free if it’s still under warranty. Hope everyone bought the extra warranty when they purchased their system, your going to need it! However they try as hard as they can to get it back to you in a reasonable time. If 3 months is reasonable then great, that’s how long it has taken to get my 3rd 360 in to service and fixed. I guess I can understand with over a 30% failure rate that’s got to be a lot of 360’s coming in for repair. Oh I am completely satisfied however because they are going to give me 1 month free of Xbox live for all the trouble!
I like Greg here am also on my 3rd system. I recently sent it back so I will so be on my fourth. It is rather sad to hear that he has been bought off with a free month of Xbox live. Three months is not a reasonable amount of time at all. A month or less should be plenty of time, but if this means that I won’t have to deal with this situation again, then it is worth. With or without the free Xbox live.
I am on my 3rd Xbox 360, the first was fixed and sent back within a couple weeks, but the 2nd took over 6 weeks, the 3rd haven’t failed yet, but I plan on selling it before it does. Having all 3 current systems, the I can say the Xbox is very unreliable. 3-5% failure rate is incorrect.
It would be nice to see how many people are having the same issues!
start maybe a poll or xbox 360 failer partition it would be nice just to have a way to gather all 360 owners with issues.
I think MS needs a recall!
Micro$oft sell 10 million consoles to get a market share of 6.7m people who actually currently own their consoles, Xbox 360 is such a piece of S**t. I own both a PS3 & a Wii. I’m happy I waited and avoided all this mess.
I have had 2 units already and both break down after a few months of being use.
Because i am out of the warranty, now i have to pay ($130.00) for the repair. I hear some people are in their 5th replacement already.
I beleave warranties should be longer that a year in this case. I expect to use this consoles for a few years before it break down. At $399.00 plus an extra controler $50.00, XboxLive suscription $50.00 and games is a lot of money to spend and no be able to enjoy the console without the hasle of breaking down and all the process of getting it fix.
Hope Microsoft do something about this problem
Just wandering? How many of the 360’s so called 11 million global sales so far have been replacments? 33% maybe?
my 360 worked fine for 13 months without a hickup. then one day the 3 lights of death appeared. the second box they sent back to me has worked fine for the past 3 weeks but we shall see.
