While playing a match at Wimbledon, tennis ace Serena Williams collapsed in pain while just seven points from victory. Although she had the sharp pain in her right calf, Serena still managed to hobble through the game for another 11 minutes until rain stopped play.
It wasn’t just Williams who was thankful of the rain, as fans cheered for the interruption but most of the cheering was for Serena’s valiant effort to keep playing, while in a lot of pain. When the match was stopped Serena a two-time Wimbledon was just one set up, although she was trailing by 4-2 in the second-set tiebreaker against Daniela Hantuchova.
It seems that the cramp first appeared when Hantuchova hit a great forehand winner, Serena went for the return shot but grabbed her left calf she then tapped it three times with her racket then she just feel to the grass in pain. She was on the grass for seven minutes while her trainer massaged the calf.
Once play was resumed she was a shadow of herself, as she could only go after shots weakly while trying to return the ball. Play should resume today
