CinemaNow and iTunes who are commercial video download sites will hell yes soon have the stunning option of allowing customers to burn copies of their downloaded movies to DVD’s which in return will playback in standard DVD players. This is a very good idea to the masses and this is all down to an amendment recently approved by the DVD Copy Control Association. It has always been known that to date there was no way for movies bought from online services could not be burned to the commercial DVD format, legal restrictions stopped this. The commercial DVD format is in fact protected against this copying of because of the encryption system known as CSS. The DVD Copy Control Association is a little reluctant inletting customers gain access control to the CSS technology which is needed to make movies compatible for DVD players. Some downside bits to this is that DVD-R support for CSS will require special discs and another problem is that not many or should we say not all existing DVD burners will work with it.
