It’s not uncommon these days to be able to buy multifunction laser printers for under $500, so we’re seeing more and more powerful printers like these in the home. So what’s left for the small office user? Well, read on!
The HP Colour LaserJet CM1017 MFP, at $700 is a touch too expensive for regular home users, but worth every penny to a small office. If your business needs high-quality laser prints then the network-ready colour laser multifunction printer that scans, copies, prints (obviously), has built-in media card readers then I think the CM1017 MFP is the perfect choice for you!
Due to it’s size, the 1017 MFP is better suited for an office rather than home offices. It stands 21.3 inches tall, sits 17.3 inches wide and is 20 inched deep. It weighs almost 50 pounds (about as much as Nicole Richie then!)
The top-mounted flatbed scanner and control panel sit atop the body and can hold up to A4 size documents.
Underneath the scanner unit is an output tray which juts out from the front of the printer. You pull the input tray from the bottom of the printers front and it can hold up to 250 sheets of plain paper. The adjustable paper guides let you feed anything from envelopes to full sheets of paper smoothly and effortlessly. If you need more than the 250 sheet capacity, there are options to buy more trays.
The printer comes with four media card slots which are located on the right side of the printer. The slots will take most major types of cards. There is a control panel next to the scanner bed. The control panel is 2.4 inches and is colour LCD. It flips up and can be titled to ensure you can see it from any angle.
The toner levels are constantly displayed on the LCD screen to avoid last minute panic for toner. There are a load of buttons which will initiate the photo print, scan and copy tasks without you having to touch your PC.
