HP LaserJet 1020

If you’re looking for an inexpensive monochrome laser printer for personal use you can’t get much better than the HP LaserJet 1020. For the price of $180 dollars you get a compact printer that produces very respectable results for your light printing needs.
The printer measures in at a mere 14.6 inched wide, 9.5 inches deep and 8.2 inches tall. It weighs 11 pounds. Once you open the front panel, you’ll reveal a 150-sheet input tray and a single-sheet manual input tray which both have adjustable paper guides. There is an output tray on the top of the printer which includes a fold-out paper support.
The HP LaserJet 1020 is perfectly suited for a single user, home environment as it only has a USB connection and a 234MHz processor. There is just 2MB of on board memory, which isn’t a phenomenal amount but it’ll do the job in hand and do it well.
The 1020’s size is down to the fact that it’s a mono printer. This basically means there is only one toner cartridge. Pop open the printer’s top panel and you’ll find it. In a test by cnet.com, the 1020 printed text at a rate of 12.52 ppm (pages per minute) and graphics at a rate of 12.61 ppm.
