Today I have been looking around my local computer stores and found a few 11 inch and 12 inch portable computers, the reason I have been looking is because I need a second laptop that is a UMPC (Ultra Mobile PC).
Although the 11 and 12 laptops looked good I knew I could find a better portable computer.
So out steps the Fujitsu Siemens FMV-U8240 UMPC with a screen size of just 5.6 inches, which I found after looking around online for a little while and it looks amazing.
The problem with many UMPCs is the fact that you cannot type well unless you buy an external keyboard, the Fujitsu Siemens FMV-U8240 not only has a tiny 5.6 inch display but also has a nice laptop style keyboard built in.
This computer comes from the Fujitsu U Series of ultra-mobile PCs (FMV-LIFEBOOK line of notebook PCs); with a thickness of only 26.5mm and a weight of just 580g the FMV-U8240 is the world’s smallest tablet-convertible UMPC.
Other features include a security chip and fingerprint scanner, keyboard has a 14-mm key pitch and 1.3mm keystroke, Intel Ultra Mobile Platform 2007, maximum battery life of up to 8 hours, ultra-compact size makes it easy to carry around, Windows BitLocker Drive Encryption and support for Windows Vista.
This is the ideal powerful mobile machine for my work and I am now just waiting for word on a price and shipping date.
