Friday 22nd, Saturday 23rd and Sunday 24th June 2007
This weekend sees the Glastonbury Festival of Contemporary Performing Arts It’s the largest Greenfield music and performing arts festival in the world.
On the 19th September 1970 was the first ever festival held on the day after Jimmy Hendrix died.
The festival was the Blues festival at the Bath & West Showground that had inspired Michael Eavis to begin a festival of his own although on a smaller scale.
At this weekends festival the gates will open at 8.00am on Wednesday 20th, with camping fields, markets and performance fields accessible at that time.
Smaller venues open on Thursday 21st, and the main stages kick off on Friday morning, finally closing midnight on Sunday 24th. Once gates open on Wednesday, they remain open 24 hours a day until the site closes to the public at 5.00pm on Monday 25th.
The main stages at Glastonbury are the places where you’ll find the headlining bands.
