Hitachi was champ for a while with its 3.5-inch 1TB hard drive, but now a few months later Seagate and Samsung have finally matched that capacity.
While Hitachi has 5x 200GB platters (10 heads) the Samsung hard drive has 3Gbps SATA disks that have 3x 334GB platters or if you look to Seagate who has 4 platters (8 heads) of 250GB each.
Seagate and Samsung only have their 16MB cache while the Hitachi Deskstar 7K1000 packs an impressive 32MB buffer.
Both of the Seagate and Samsung newcomers will be priced around a cheap price of $400.
