This is the prototype Compal UMD (Ultra Mobile Device) which was spotted at Computex and was running Windows CE 5.0 to give the device more battery life over the battery draining XP or Vista.
The Compal Ultra Mobile Device is not only a portable computer but also functions as a smartphone with HSDPA.
The Compal UMD packs some nice features including media playing and Skype-friendly, five hours of battery life, a headphone jack, USB connectivity, a miniSD slot, SIM card slot, a 1.3-megapixel CMOS camera, built-in speaker and microphone, hot keys, trackpad, slide out QWERTY keyboard, Bluetooth 2.0+EDR, 802.11b/g WiFi, a 4.3-inch WVGA display, 256MB of DDR RAM, 512MB of NAND Flash memory and a 532MHz Freescale i.MX31 processor.
The problem is because this device is in the prototype stage we have no idea if Compal will bring this Ultra Mobile Device to market.
