Nintendo Wii Wiimote-like abilities: The PS3 GunCon 3 controller

This is the Sony PS3 GunCon 3 controller that is reported to function just like a Nintendo Wii Wiimote or at least have similar abilities.
Many PlayStation 3 gamers will be looking forward to getting their hands on one of these GunCon 3 controllers that relies on a pair of markers you put on top of your TV, they are then detected by a camera in the muzzle of the gun.
The controller also has two analog sticks and six buttons, not sure if that could match the SIXAXIS though.
We have no official word on a North American release date but it is rumored to be releasing in Japan by end of 2007 with the Gun and game Time Crisis 4.

hah, first the gloves, now this. I supposed that the ps3 will haev about a thousand addons for each game they release. They just don’t think outside the box like Nintendo did. Fools
The Wii remote is a piece of ****, impossible to play racing simulators and makes your average shooter far more difficult than it should be (red steel anyone?) I havent seen proof yet that the wiimote is anything more than a gimick, the games just suck

This is the first addon that comes packaged with a game. Oh, and the “housand addons for each game” is rubbish too.
The only other games that require addons are Singstar, and Eye of Judgement.
They don’t think outside the box? Yeah, it’s not like Sony forces everyone to program for the one gimmick controller instead of allowing devolopers to create an entire new controller suited to the game is it?

Its a controller thats designed very much for games like Time Crises. In fact, this Gun Con is probably better than the wii-mote for RE4 Wii edition. But the Gun is clearly not trying to be a wii-mote type controller, you will not be playing sport, racing, action adventures etc with this gun. Its not as if we haven’t see n add-on gun controllers before that people did buy for other gun con games. Wiigamer I don’t know what your problem is, your a typical Wii gamer always having a bash at what other consoles with have. What is it, you jealous? there is no other explaination for your attacks. And the copy and thousands of add-ons claims are bull.

first off cheese, its very easy to play racing games and fps games with the wii-mote. only a person who really sucks at using the wii-mote would bash it like that.
bill, you just don’t know what the wii-mote can do. Also, this plastic gun is only useful for fps games for the ps3. What about racing games? What about sports games? THATS what i meant by a thousand addons. Sony made that gun to counter the wii-mote.
and last AND least, yo. if you read the description, you would see that the gun is supposed to work similar to the wiimote. What i meant is, is sony gonna make a bunch of more addons that work like a wii-mote for sports and racing games etc… and heres the funniest part! YOU THINK IM JEALOUS LMFAO ps3 is falling farther behind in 3rd place each month. Right now they got few good games released with some more good ones coming out later. it was not an attack, it was simply to help them understand that ps3 owners shouldn’t have to have a cabinet full of games and toys.

Bad write-up. These gun-type controllers existed in the arcades first before Nintendo designed their Wiimote. These controllers and games were also on PS2s.
The Wiimote may be more multifunctional due to its design but it is not the be-all-and-end-all of console controllers.
yeah but the sad fact is the ps3 is getting pwned. just… just completely pwned. gimmick or not, nintendo’s eye to expand the marketplace and go for the larger contingent is what’s really winning the console war.
First of let me state that Im a complete gamer and hard-core gamer. Meaning, that I love both Nintendo and Sony. I grew up on Nintendo and Sony has capture the definition superior gaming.
One, Time Crisis is an arcade game and not a video game for home console. The gameplay of the arcade was to shoot enemies with a similar gun shown on the top page. This is in no way a mimic to the wiimote, if there can ever be.
Two, the wiimote is not a gimmick its an awsome way to play games and experience gameplay. However, the wiimote, and its experience isnt for everybody.
Three, Sony is just as innovative as Nintendo. Sony has great games coming out with an awsome online service with Home, and games like Little Big Planet is incredibile! Ours such as LA Norie, MetalgearSolid4, HeavenlySword, ect are great!
Lastly, I dont want to sound like soft-pussy-bitch, but come on! We all win here. Sony is doing great, and Nintendo is on the lead, but lets be honest here other than Zelda and Paper Mario… what else there? The Online sucks balls, and there arent any games that make you go “Wow”.. eventually there will, but you gotta admit that Sony got great games coming out.

I don’t know why you keep bringing the thousand add-on for when this Guncon is only the 3rd which is optional, not forced upon like the Wii-mote. Nintendo fans rave how good the wii-mote is but I think your all hiding behind a disguise. When really inside you wished you didn’t have to put up with it as its all a gimmick and will soon fade and it doesn’t always work and don’t give me bull about how it does because you even get reviews from Nintendo sites saying so for things like ‘unresponsive’ ‘no control over camera’
You talk about sales but the majority of sales are coming from Nintendo fanboys who will play anything Nintendo sells to them, even if it does suck. Wait to all the Nintendo fans have got one and lets see if the Wii appeals to the masses. The Nintendo fans is one reason (as you lot haven’t had a console to play for some years) and the second reason is not the games, but the price. You make it an even test and have PS3 at the same price as Wii and you’d be seeing PS2 fans trading in for PS3’s on the same scale as Wii, if not better. I have spoken to so many and have a mate who owns an independant game store and I found that the people want a PS3 its just the price. You go round and do a survey based on how many people (who drive)would like a Ferarri. You’ll find that nearlly all will say yes but do they or plan to own one? no because of the price. A survey about a PS3 and you’ll get people saying there waiting for the price and some more exclusives in which both are coming this year.
I’ve always said at the begining that the Wii will slow down and the PS3 will pick up and overtake and now you have Sega saying the same thing, you’ve had many devs saying the PS3 is the way but many have commented that their are loyal to Sony, Sega are on the other hand more loyal to Nintendo but they will speak the truth. I’ve already read in Nintendo forums of people getting bored of the motion control and the games in the pipe-line all seem to be very similar.
The Wii sales don’t bother me as I know it will slow down soon the same way the N64 and the Cube did so I’ll let you have your momont of glory.
I do remember how Nintendo fanboys would say how sales don’t determine a great console when considering PS2 and PS1. You lot always said that N64 was better and had better games than PS1 and Cube was better and had better games than PS2, and that sales didn’t mean a thing. Look how its turned now that thw DS and Wii sales are stronger? Its thatNinty Fans never stick by what they say. “gfx mean nothing, xbox sucks, wow look how amazing the gfx are in RE4?” “Wii doesn’t need gfx, wow my favourute game is Mario Galaxy, haven’t a clue how it plays or if its going to be any good just that it has the best gfx out of any other Wii game” Ninty fans always pretending thay don’t care about having better gfx untill they do.
Kevin, I try to take the same aproach as you do about games but then you have the Ninty fanboys bash Sony which is the only reason I will defend them. In normal occasions if Sony piss me off I complain like when the big PS2 broke after consecutive playing for a year. I complained my socks of on the phone. Worked as I got a replacement. I’m now on the Sony blog complaining about the lack og Demos and PSN games on the UK one. If there is something I’m not happy with I will complain about or be annoyed about. I don’t just take it on the chin and just accept its no good like Nintendo Fans wil do.
Really I am someone who doesn’t give a toss about the badge on the console, if I feel the games are good and I’m missing out then I want it. I had both Nes and Snes but got bored and moved on. The N64, Cube and now Wii for me didn’t have enough good games. I need a console that will give be a constent flow from good to awesome games and both the PS1 and PS2 did that and I feel the PS3 will also judging from whats coming out this year and 2008. Same with 360, I never bothered with xbox but felt this time I would be mising out on too many good games. At this moment the PS3 isn’t getting games and doesn’t warrent a purchase for many people at that price tag. For me I wanted the PS3 for a blu-ray player and it had a few great games for it otherwise I would probably waited if not for the blu-ray player. And now the games are around the corner so i don’t think it mattered whether I waited or not. Getting the PS3 early means getting some of the games finished before the serious lot come. Still not got Oblivion though
The smart people have always been saying give the ps3 like 2 to 3 yrs time before it’ll shine, which is true, the developers hardly tapping into the ps3’s full potential right now since its “harder” to develop for. But then the next day you see 360/nintendo fanboys saying the ps3 falling behind, gonna fail, etc etc, probably 70% of those wii owners bought the wii because ps3 was too expensive, which means when the price comes down, in a few yrs time as well ‘coincidentally’ with the potential tapped in mostly, and more efficient price, they will all buy the ps3, and the 360 people will see how their console compares to the ps3 and will sell the 360 to buy the ps3. hahahaha ok the last bit was biased i admit, just give the ps3 some time.
Bah! Instead of just saying all these 5hits about which system being better than the other and wasting your time, why don’t you just become a game programmer or a designer and make a great game for your favourite platform to prove your point? Please, for the sake of those who are neutral, we had enough of your constant annoyance!
Yo, most nintendo Fanboys are true gamers at heart, they love their games and the past. Im gulity of the same, when the ps2 came out and kept saying that grfx werent important and gameplay and the nintendo’s libary of games would defeat the playstation. I was wrong on part, letting my pride of the love of Nintendo got the best of me. I still sa that Nintendo was the shit with the N64 and well the Gamecube had a few, but Nintendo fanboys love gaming. Sony love power and technology along with innovation as Nintendo.
Im not sayin fanboys are good, but it isnt so bad to love your console with great admiration. I want to get the Wii for Zelda and Mario, just because their are one of my all time favorite games. The Wii has a great future, or at least thats what I would love to think, and Sony’s Ps3 will become ruler once more and that I can assure.
I have nothing against the 360, but I just dont like their system, nor their games as much. I love their online though and the movie rentals, well we all know that Microsoft has almost perfect online to the core, I hope Sony does a even greater job with home.
So, Yo let the Nintendo fanboys rave and be joyous because in a few months maybe a year or two, the wii will die-down and Sony will stay there along side with Microsoft’s new console because the 360 isnt bulit for the long-term like the Ps3.
I dont want to sound like a Sony Fanboy, but i know that Sony will be victorious.
I’m an XBOX fan boy but I grew up with Nendinto and Sega. What’s funny is that I don’t remember having battles like this about different systems. Maybe because the Internet never existed. I just played. Now I have played the Wii and even though the Wii is selling right now at a amazing rate. I don’t believe it will come out on top. In fact I think PS3 will do better in time but untimately the XBOX RULES. The Wii is intresting and Inovative but that is just it. Real games are played with real controllers. It feels better and responds better and the Gun that Sony come up with is a very good Idea. I’m actually happy to see that Sony is being the leader in something even though it is an old Idea. I personally would prefer if it came with a cord instead of a sensor over your TV. Remember Duck Hunt. That worked very well. Oh and the reason the Wii will not do good is because the games suck. Or maybe it’s just for kids and I’m too old now.
I don’t know if anyone else did this when they were younger. I was about 6 and my mate also and he had been bought a NES with that robot thing and Duck Hunt with the gun. I remember him sawing off the end of the gun to make a sawn-off shotgun and it acted just like a sawn-off shotgun. You fired the once and the whole screen flashed and every duck would die. Who else did this?
I remember having these conflicts with people, Im 19, so if interested didnt exist then Charles your pretty old. Hahaha. Anyways, I didnt grow up on internet, but I remember having Battles in school about which system was better, which had better games and graphics, but it wasnt what it is today because at the end of day we all went over eachothers house to playvideogames.
