Transformers: Peter Cullen Exclusive Interview

Forget Oceans 13, Pirates of The Caribbean 3 and the latest Spiderman offering, this summers hottest movie release has got to be Transformers the Movie. Competing with the likes of Brad Pitt, George Clooney and Shrek is the little known Peter Cullen. The voice of Optimus Prime, Robot leader of the Autobots in Transformers.

Transformers is set to thrash the box office records when it opens and it’ll see unknown Cullen outshining the brightest A List stars. In this exclusive interview, Cullen reveals that his unexpected appearance in Transformers the movie was down to the fans. Cullen played Optimus Prime in the animated series and fans demanded that the actor was recruited for the movie.

What were your initial feelings when they announced they were making a live- action Transformers movie?

Peter Cullen: Well, they were mixed because I haven’t had any involvement since 1986, and I was aware of the rumblings of the movie and the anticipation of that. [But] when there was talk of bringing back the original Optimus Prime, that was when I became involved.
