Metal Gear Solid 4 Xbox 360
Initially Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots was only being promised for the Playstation 3 but as time has been going on we are now hearing rumors that the Xbox 360 will also get the game.

The photos we have on this page are from the PS3 version and they do look amazing and show just how good Metal Gear Solid 4 graphics will be.

We are also hearing that the Xbox 360 version of the game will feature some exclusive content with Xbox Live making online gameplay an attractive feature.

I am not sure how concrete these rumors are as we are also hearing about a possible Nintendo Wii Metal Gear Solid 4 version.

Does anyone have any further information about the possibility of seeing the game on these other consoles?

The post that started it all was forums.xbox.com where a member claimed that Super Play Magazine (of MGS3 fame) had said the following:

“At the end of 2007, one of the biggest titles to be released for any of the current generation consoles is Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots. As the follow up to the blockbuster smash hit PS2 title Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater, it will problably sell extremely well and be played by many PS3 fans. However, sole owners of Wii and Xbox 360 would have to do without it. Fortunately, Konami isnĀ“t completely blind to the fact that more gamers deserve to play this epic title, and it is now confirmed that Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots for the Xbox 360 will launch a year later in November 2008. It will come with new content additions including VR missions and other bonus gameplay like Snake Tales, which lets you go on more objective-based missions — some quite lengthy. So, there’s no question that Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots for the Xbox 360 comes packed with more content than the original PS3-version.

Seemingly, the Xbox 360 Metal Gear would have been the one to wait for, but Konami respond by releasing the slightly beefed up Metal Gear Solid 4 for PS3 as well.”

However, this text is an almost word for word rip from an IGN article from 2003:

“At the end of 2001, one of the biggest titles to be released for any of the current generation consoles was Metal Gear Solid 2. As the follow up to the blockbuster smash hit PSX title Metal Gear Solid, it went on to sell extremely well and be played by many PS2 fans. However, sole owners of GameCube and Xbox would have to do without it. Fortunately, Konami wasn’t completely blind to the fact that more gamers deserved to play the epic title, and it released Metal Gear Solid 2: Substance for the Xbox a year later in November 2002. This came with new content additions including VR missions and other bonus gameplay like Snake Tales, which lets you go on more objective-based missions — some quite lengthy. So, there’s no question that Metal Gear Solid 2: Substance comes packed with more content than the original MGS2 on PS2.

Seemingly, the Xbox Metal Gear would have been the one to buy, but Konami responded quickly by releasing the slightly beefed up Metal Gear Solid 2: Substance for PS2 this March.”

Your site is just perpetuating an already proven false ‘rumour’…

Why would you write about some unfound rumor which originated form a Swedish magazine whose source was someone off a forum saying that?

Did you also hear about the rumor Gears of War is coming to PS3? Why don’t you write about that as well.

Kojima has come out openly stating Xbox 360 cannot run MGS4 because of hardware limitations such as blu-ray and cell specific programing.
So, how feasible does it sound MGS4 will come out on the Wii, and Xbox 360?

You should stop spreading un-substantiated rumors it just makes you look like an idiot and un-reditable.

  3. Jon says:

Hideo Kojima said in an interview that MGS4 will not fit on the 360 because it doesn’t have a HD drive and MGS4 will be well over 18GB so firstly the idea it will be released at all is highly dubious and secondly the idea it will actually have more content than the PS3 is simply retarded. There may be inferior versions released at some point for the 360 and Wii but the MGS4 that conforms with Kojima’s vision will only be on the PS3.

  4. Tony says:

What about using the Xbox 360 External HD-DVD drive

  5. Jon says:

Tony said - “What about using the Xbox 360 External HD-DVD drive”

I believe only around 100,000 external HD-DVD drives have been sold.

  6. mike says:

inferior??hahahaha every single game released multiplatform for the 360 and ps3 has looked crap compared to the 360 versions, do your research ,i work at gamestop and have showed hundreds of people the same thing on our display systems…inferior…hahahaha p.s, dvds cost pennies to manufacturers and making a double cd game is not a problem at all..

  7. spencer says:

This is such fake bs. mgs4 PS3 is the only system that can really run this game like it should be ran. I cant wait thanks kojima flank!!!

  8. Spencer says:

This is so fake lol. I cant wait for it to come out on PS3 kojima rocks. I dont even see how this game could go on another system with out making it a total flawed gimped version. I am glad more dev are saying to make this game what it needs to be we need a system with extras. Plus when games come out this fall more sales will come and lazy devs will jump ship again when they see there games are not close to AAA titles in the same type of game class.

  9. kspraydad says:

And the Xbox can’t use the external drives for games.
