Apple Mac Pro 3GHz Eight Core: launch was inevitable

We all know how Apple loves to keep their products in secrecy (just look at their iPhone), but one thing is for sure and that is it was inevitable that Apple would launch the Mac Pro eight-core option as Intel had launched a quad-core version of the Xeon before them and they have to keep up.
This machine is not for the average Apple user, it is much more than many will ever need and also the price reflex’s this, unless you’re the type that must have the latest and fastest personal computer under your desk.
What do you get for your money on the Apple Mac Pro 3GHz Eight Core?
- Two 3GHz quad-core Clovertown processors and 8MB per processor of Level 2 cache
- 1GB of Ram (upgradeable to 16GB over eight slots)
- 250GB 7200rpm Sata hard drive (upgrade to maximum capacity of 3TB)
- 16x SuperDrive
- 256MB Nvidia GeForce 7300 GT graphics card
- 2 Gigabit Ethernet ports are the only networking options
- 2 FireWire 800
- 2 FireWire 400
- 5 USB 2 Ports
- Optical digital audio input
- 2 USB 1.1 sockets on the keyboard
Sadly there is no Blu-ray or HD-DVD drive, but this maybe because they are not properly supported in Mac OS X yet.
You are going to want to upgrade the Ram, hard drive and get either AirPort Extreme or Bluetooth as a custom option.
What surprises me when paying this money for an Apple computer is the specs did not include a little more ram, hard drive space and Bluetooth or Wireless as standard.

This really is some computer kit, this has to be aimed at the office type or designer as I cannot see many people getting kit like this.
