Last week we heard a few Rumors about Google acquiring Feedburner (The RSS Management Company) and now it has come to light that this was very true.
According to a TechCrunch source close to the deal Feedburner is in the closing stages of being acquired by Google.
The search giant loves to buy companies that are getting attention and I feel this is a great move by Google as Feeds and content being syndicated is the future (but Google does not need me to say that, THEY KNOW).
This could mean Google improving the beta program of Adsence in Feeds and then start pushing this through Feedburner…I would guess that is why they are buying the company.
The acquisition will cost Google around $100 million which they are giving most as cash and upfront, but its not that easy for Feedburner founders as they will be locked in for a couple of years.
Feedburner was founded in 2003, but had to raise $10 million in capital over the period which means they have made some serious money if selling at $100 million in such a small space of time.
