AT&T Have iPhone Distribution Rights for 5 years

AT&T are going to be raking the money in on the biggest cell phone in history (The Apple iPhone), as they have exclusive iPhone distribution rights for a whole 5 years.
In the terms of phone technology you might as well call that distribution rights forever, so if you are looking to buy the Apple iPhone by 2012 then you will have to be an AT&T customer.
So you have two choices:
1) Buy the iPhone from AT&T if you can get hold of one when it’s released.
2) Do not buy the Apple iPhone and wait for a better cell phone, as there are many plans by companies including Verizon.
The real question is will another phone come out just as hot as the iPhone, as people have been trying to do better than the iPod for a long time, but the iPod is still the most popular.

Daniel,
There is a third choice for some of us.
Buy the Iphone from Apple, unlock it and use it on another GSM carrier. All the features are available with the exception of Visual Voice, but that is something I for one can live without.
Have a wonderful day!
