Over the weekend Blizzard has confirmed that they will be releasing a much awaited sequel to the popular space multiplayer game and WarCraft-based StarCraft.

StarCraft II will feature many improvements and the story will follow the three distinct and powerful races (Zerg, Terran and Protoss), which will clash again in this very fast-paced real-time strategy game.

You can look forward to many brand-new unit types in StarCraft 2, as each faction struggles for survival while battling across the galaxy.

StarCraft II Main Improvements Include:

  • Full map-making and scripting tools to give players incredible freedom in customizing and personalizing their gameplay experience
  • Full multiplayer support, with new competitive features and matchmaking utilities available through Battle.net
  • Vibrant new 3D-graphics engine with support for dazzling visual effects and massive unit and army sizes
  • Groundbreaking single-player “story-mode” campaign
  • New units and gameplay mechanics further distinguish each race
  • Three completely distinct races: Protoss, Terran, and Zerg
  • Fast-paced, hard-hitting, tightly balanced competitive real-time strategy gameplay that recaptures and improves on the magic of the original game

    Warcraft-Based? How is it Warcraft-Based?

    It’s the same company that makes them. And they are both real time stratagy games, but that only makes them stylisticly similar. Oh and yeah, They both have “Craft” in the name. But, it should take about 2 minutes of research to figure out that none of the storyline or lore is connected with Warcraft and that they are in fact distinct intellectual properties.

    I definitely agrre with “lolwut”. You should do some research before saying Warcraft-based.

    The fisrt starcraft was designed completely from scratch and entirely different engine from Warcraft.

    The gameplay was also entirely different.
