$4,995 USD might be a lot of money to many people but one thing is for sure and that price is a very good deal on a 3D printer.
Desktop Factory is to introduce a 3D printer for under $5,000 with prices dropping by the end of 2007, as technology moves on and more people buy 3D printers things will keep getting cheaper…good news all round.
It’s been more than 10 years that 3D printers have been around for industrial use, but they had some really outrageous price tags which has kept them out of many business and consumer hands.
Desktop Factory has the aim in mind to bring a consumer-oriented 3D printer this year for just $4,995 USD, and this is a really good price considering the only people affording these printers before were the U.S. military, architects, dentists and doctors.
The future does look very exciting considering that Professor Hod Lipson of Cornell University thinks that everyone in the future will have a 3D printer and will be using it to print everyday 3D items for personal use like a shoe, fork or toothbrush.
The thought of that is simply mind blowing, I wonder how this sort of future could impact stores selling these items.
